Dear editor,
In the past my hometown was used to be a beautiful place. Thick trees and green grass could be seen in everywhere. In order to build house and grow more crops, people cut down more and more trees. With time went on, the whole forest was almost destroyed. Gradually the green hills have changed into wasteland. As a result, sandstorms struck us now and then, which we suffer a lot. But I do hope all the people should realize the terribly result of not caring about our environment. What's more, they should take good care of the forests and plant trees instead cutting them down to improve our living conditions.

What would we do without refrigerators? We take it for granted now, but what is it like before the refrigerator was invented? Have you never left milk out of the fridge for a day in summer? In just that time it will go badly, so you can imagine what hard life was before. For a long time, people have been using ice to make food lasting longer.
The first refrigerators were sold in late 1880s and they soon became very popular. Nowadays, almost everyone has a fridge in their homes and modern refrigerators are much more safer. Some of them are such modern that they can tell you what needs buying in advance!

A few months after returning the US from Germany, I took part in a college course in French. Since I have learned to speak German well in Germany, I thought that it might be interested to begin studying another language. At the first class, a teacher asked us to do a pronunciation exercise, in which he would say a word or two in French, and each student would do their best to copy. When he got to me, he kept having me to say more words, but I finally asked him why. "I find it great funs. It's the first time I've heard an American speak French in a German accent." he explained it.
