An eight-year-old child heard her parents talking about her little brother. All she knew was that he was very sick and they had no money left. About a year ago, I went to stay at a Detroit hotel. I didn’t want to 31 too much money with me, so I asked the desk clerk to put a hundred-dollar bill in the safe for me.

The Turning Point
A handsome, middle aged man walked quietly into the cafe and sat down. Before he 1 , he couldn't help but 2 a group of younger men at the table next to him. On August 26, 1999, New York City experienced a terrible rainstorm. The rain caused the streets to __36__ and the subway system almost came to a stop.
