Elderly people who drink several cups of green tea a day are less likely to suffer from depression, probably due to a "feel good" chemical found in this type of tea, Japanese researchers said.
Several studies have 1 drinking green tea to lessening psychological problems and Kaijun Niu, of Tohoku University Graduate School, and colleagues found people 2 70 and older who drank four or more cups of green tea daily were 44 percent 3 likely to experience depression.
Green tea is widely 4 in many Asian countries, 5 China and Japan.
Niu's team 6 1,058 relatively healthy elderly men and women. About 34 percent of the men and 39 percent of the women had symptoms of 7 , according to the study that was 8 in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
A total of 488 participants said they 9 four or more cups of green tea a day, 284 said they downed two to three cups 10 and the rest reported having one or fewer cups daily.
According to the researchers, the 11 effect of drinking more 12 tea on alleviating symptoms of depression did not 13 after they factored in social and economic status, gender, diet, history of medical problems and 14 of antidepressants.
There was no 15 between consumption of black or oolong tea, or coffee, and 16 symptoms of depression.
A green tea component, the amino acid thiamine(硫胺素), which is 17 to have a tranquilizing(镇静的) 18 on the brain, may 19 the "potentially beneficial effect" shown in the current study, Niu noted, 20 that more study is needed.

I was cleaning out an old box when an old card caught my eye : Queen City Casket Company . “What is it?” I wondered . I 36 it over . There, on the back in faded ink, was a hand-scrawled(手写的) 37 . Immediately my mind traveled 38 many years .
I was nine years old, walking down the cold, wet streets of Springfield, with a bag of magazines on my shoulder . On my 39 that day, I came to that Company finally, whose owner, Mr Rader, had always taken me there to ask his workers 40 they wanted any magazines .
Shaking off the 41 like a wet dog, I entered Mr Rader’s office . After a quick glance he 42 me over to the fire-place . I said good-bye, and for the first time I 53 the hope that things would be 54 . With people like Mr Rader in the world, there was hope, kindness and love, and that would always make a 55 .

We may look at the world around us, but somehow we manage not to see it until whatever we’ve become used to suddenly disappears. 36 , for example, the neatly-dressed woman I 37 see —or look at — on my way to work each morning.
For three years, no matter 38 the weather was like, she was always waiting at the bus stop around 8:00 am. On 39 days, she wore heavy clothes and a pair of woolen gloves. Summertime 40 out neat, belted cotton dresses and a hat pulled low over her sunglasses. 41 , she was an ordinary working woman. Of course, I 42 all this only after she was seen no more. It was then that I realized how 43 I counted on to see her each morning. You might say I 44 her.
“Did she have an accident? Something 45 ?” I thought to myself about her 46 . Now that she was gone, I felt I had 47 her. I began to realize that part of our 48 life probably includes such chance meetings with familiar 49 : the milkman you see at dawn, the woman who
50 walks her dog along the street every morning, the twin brothers you see at the library. Such people are 51 markers in the landscape of our lives. They add weight to our 52 of place and belonging.
Think about it. 53 , while walking to work, we mark where we are by 54a certain building, why should we not mark where we are when we pass a familiar, though 55 , person?

Recently I gave my adult students homework. It was to "go to someone you love and tell them you love them. It has to be someone you have 36 said those words to before or at least haven't 37 those words with for a long time. "
Since most of the men were over 35 and were raised in the 38 of men that were taught 39 feelings is not "manly", this was very 40 homework for some.
In our next 41 , I asked if someone wanted to share his story with us. I fully _42 one of the women to volunteer, as was 43 the case, but on this evening one of the men raised his hand. As he 44 out of his chair (all 1.85 meters of him), he began by saying, "Dennis, I was quite 45 with you last week when you gave us this homework. 46 were you to tell me to do something so personal? But as I began driving home my heart started talking to me, telling me that I knew 47 who I needed to say 'I love you' to. "
"My father and I had a severe 48 five years ago, and since then we had 49 seeing each other unless we had to at Christmas. But even then, we hardly 50 to each other. So last Tuesday I drove to my parents' house after work and said, 'Dad, I just 51 to tell you that I love you. '"
"Dad reached out and 52 me and said, 'I love you too, son, but I've never been able to say it.' Two days after my visit, my dad had a heart attack and I don't know if he will 53 it. So, I'm here to tell all of you that my 54 in this is: Don't wait to do the thing 55 it is too late. Take the time to do what you need to do and do it now!"

When I was in middle school, I was one of the smaller players on the basketball team. In our first game of the season, we were 31 to face a good team, all of whom were tall guys. Naturally, at my 32 , it would have been easy to be 33 by our competitors.
On game day, my basketball coach called me over to him. He was a strong and tough coach, and in his 34 rough manner said, “Joel, you’re not that 35 , but let me tell you that size doesn’t matter. Don’t be afraid. What 36 is right down in here.” He pointed his finger at his37 as he continued, “Joel, you’ve got a big heart, and you’re to 38 it this year.”
When I heard the coach’s 39 , I stood taller than usual! I thought to myself: The coach believes in me! My confidence 40 and I played better that year than I’d ever done before.
It’s 41 what we can achieve when we know somebody really believes in us. That coach took a little time to make a big 42 . He took time to make me confident in myself. If we’re going to 43 the best in people, we need to sow seeds of 44 .
As the saying goes, “Love looks for a way of being constructive.” 45 , love looks for ways to help improve somebody else’s life.
When people are 46 us, they should leave better off than they were before. People should feel 47 and inspired after spending any time with you and me48 feeling discouraged or defeated.
Remember, there’s 49 greater investment(投资)in life than in being a people builder. Relationships 50 much more to us than our achievements.
