One day, I was cooking in the kitchen while the telephone rang. I went to answer it immediate. She was my close friend, Lisa. When we were talking on a phone, the fire alarm sounded. I run back to the kitchen find the room full of smoke and the beef badly burnt. I quickly turned off the gas, opening all the windows, and then went out of the house. To my surprise, two fire engine were outside my house. I was rather worried. I told about the firemen that it was my careless cooking which caused the heavy smoke.

Yesterday afternoon Frank Hawkins was telling me about his experience as a young man. Before he retired,Frank was a head of a very large business company,but as a boy he used to working in a small shop. It was his job to repair bicycles and at this time he used to work fourteen hours a day. He saved money for years but in 1958 he bought a small workshop of his own. China had launched a national campaign "Eat up All on the Plates" for the leftovers in restaurant across the country are almost enough feed 200 million people annually, according to reports.
It is a tradition for most people in China to entertain their quests with more than enough food, believe that they have not satisfied their guests if there's no food left on table, where they think is a good way to show their hospitality. They think we will be looked down upon if they don't do that.
The "Eat Up All on the Plates" campaign is intended to reduce the waste and rise people's awareness. As middle school students, we should do our bit to say "No" to food waste, and try to develop the habit of never ordering and cooking more than what we need so as to save our limited food resources, with which we depend for a better life.
