Many years ago, I stepped into a bookstore for some books I wanted them. While I was there, I see a young boy of about 12 come into the store. The boy wanted to buy a geography book. Geography books paid one dollar each, but he had only 62 cents. I decided to follow him to see whether he could succeed. Four stores we entered, and four times he disappointed. Luckily at the five store he got an used book. Having learned why he wanted the book, and the bookseller gave him some writing papers and a new pencil as a gift.

Personally , I found most lesson rather uninteresting. We had to
sit at our desks in silence and paid attention to what the teachers

rules. I left school as soon as I can and started work. I read books
at the public library , and late I decided to attend college. Now
I really enjoy study because I’m growing old and know what I
want it. When I was at school , I was just the wrong age!

In early 1800’s a new kind of power changed transportation and trade along the Mississippi River. This power was a steam. People already knew that how to use steam engines to run machines. Some people wanted to move boats by the same way. The first steamboats to travel on the Mississippi was the “New Orleans”, which made its first trip in 1811. It was a great successful, and by 1819 there were 191 steamboats travel on the long river. In the past, the farmers products went to other parts of the country used steamboats. The manufacturers whose trade depend on cheap and easy transportation used steamboats so well.

When I was ten years old, I went to Yangzhou with two American．I became their guide．First, we went to the Shouxi River．They wanted to look around the river by the boat．After buy the tickets, we got into a boat．We went around seeing the beautiful sight．After that, we went shopping．The sellers couldn't spoke English．Though it was very harder, I tried my best listen to their words carefully and translate the sentences．They bought some little things with their help．Next, we went to a small zoo but took some pictures．When we felt hunger, we went out and had lunch．After lunch, we visited some old house and learned more about Chinese history．
