When an NBA player is young he thinks he can win the championship by himself. It is only later when he has aged and been through many battles 36 he learns an important lesson: there is no “I” in “team”.
There is 37 better example of the value of teamwork than the Boston Celtics. Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett were all 38 on three different teams. Yet, none of them had any titles to show for it. 39 last season, they 40 to sacrifice money and individual statistics to play together. Garnett and Allen joined Pierce on the Celtics and 41 the NBA in the process.
It started in simple ways. Garnett and Allen are two of the most intense athletes in the world. They treat every second of every practice like it is the NBA 42 . If you want to play alongside them then you will have to do the same. So, the young guys on the Celtics started giving their full effort too.
Pierce had been the star of the Celtics for many years. He 43 shoot the ball many times a game. But with the addition of Allen and Garnett he shot less and 44 on defense. His 45 showed the young players that doing what made the team better was the only thing that 46 .
When the Celtics 47 and the game was almost over, Garnett, Pierce and Allen would come out of the game. But they wouldn’t just sit on the bench. 48 , they stood and cheered and 49 for their teammates. They wanted to support their friends and 50 .
Now, the guys who don’t play know they can still 51 the game by cheering so they scream and cheer when Garnet, Allen and Pierce are playing. The Celtics have developed a strong 52 . They are more than just teammates. They are 53 .
The result: the Boston Celtics won the 2008 NBA championship and are considered the favorites to 54 the Eastern Conference championship again this year.
There is a saying that 55 , “A successful team beats with one heart.” If that is the case, the Celtics may have the biggest heart in the NBA.

In 1982, Steven Callahan was crossing the Atlantic alone in his sailboat when it struck something and sank.He got into a life boat, but his supplies were 21 .His chances of surviving were small. 22 when three fishermen found him 76 days later, he was alive —much 23 than he was when he started, but alive.
His 24 of how he survived is fascinating. His cleverness —how he 25 to catch fish, how he evaporated(蒸发) sea water to 26 fresh water—is very interesting.
But the thing that 27 my eye was how he managed to keep himself going when all hope seemed lost, and there seemed no 28in continuing the struggle. He was starved and 29 worn-out.Giving up would have seemed the only possible choice.
When people 30 these kinds of circumstances, they do something with their minds that gives them the courage to keep going. Many people in 31 desperate circumstances 32 in or go mad.Something the survivors do with their thoughts helps them find the courage to carry on 33 difficulties.
"I tell myself I can 34 it," wrote Callahan in his book.-Compared to what others have been through, I'm fortunate.I tell myself these things over and over,35 up courage..."
I wrote that down after 1 read it.It 36 me as something important. And I've told myself the same thing when my own goals seemed 37 off or when my problems seemed too terrible. And every time I've said it, I have always come back to my 38 .
The truth is, our circumstances are only bad 39 to something better. But others have been through the much worse, that is, in comparison with what others have been through, you're fortunate.Tell this to yourself over and over again, and it will help you 40 through the rough situations with a little more courage.

In a world where comparisons happen non-stop, it is difficult to look outside yourself and to ever be 21 with who you are. There’s always someone who’s a bit 22 . The only solution is to reach 23 and measure against what Warren Buffett calls your own inner yardstick. There is no more 24 measure for comparison than who your were yesterday, last week or last decade, when you were at your 25 .
Nothing useful ever comes from comparison to others .Either you see yourself as better than someone and you get 26 , or you see someone else as better than you and you feel like all your hard work is for 27 . It is a fool’s game. Not one of us is exactly 28 . The only direct and honest comparison is 29 yourself. Everything else is apples to oranges.
My opinion is that you are only 30 to compare yourself to someone else if their life31 is the same as your own. Good luck finding that 32 . And one thing is for sure. No matter how hard you work and how dedicated(埋头苦干的)you are, there will always be someone who can run a little faster, jump a little higher, score a little better or look a little nicer in a swimsuit. And if there’s not, you can 33 someone is coming up fast 34 you. So how can you always win in life? Become your best 35 .
Having an image of your most recent past limits is the perfect thing to 36 you to the next level. If you ran 7 flights of stairs yesterday, then do 8 today. Who 37 if the guy next to you did 15? It doesn’t make a bit of 38 . You are a more 39 person today than you were yesterday. Your own 40 is all you need.

Embroidering(刺绣)
When I was a little boy living in New York, my mother used to embroider a great deal. I would sit at her knee and look up from the 36 and ask what she was doing. She 37 me that she was embroidering. I told her that it looked like a mess from where I was. As from the underside I watched her work within the 38 of the little round hoop(铁环)that she held in her hand, I complained to her that it sure looked39 from where I sat.
She would smile at me, look down and40 say, "My son, you go about your 41 for a while, and when I am finished with my embroidering, I will put you on my 42 and let you see it from my side."
I would wonder why she was using some dark threads along with the 43 ones and why they seemed so jumbled(混乱的)from my 44 . A few minutes would pass and then I would hear Mother's voice say, " Son, come and sit on my knee." This I did only to be surprised and 45 to see a beautiful flower or a sunset. I could not 46 it, because from underneath it looked so messy.
Then mother would 47 to me, "My son, from underneath it did look messy and jumbled, but you did not realize that there was a 48 plan on the top. It was a 49 . I was only following it. Now look at it from my side 50 you will see what I was doing."
Many 51 through the years, I have 52 up to my Heavenly Father and said, “ Father, what are You doing? ” He 53 , “ I am embroidering your 54 . ”I say, " But it looks like a mess to me. It seems so jumbled. The threads seem so dark. Why can't they all be bright ? " The Father seems to tell me, " My child, you go about your business of doing My business, and one day I will bring you to 55 and put you on my knee and you will see the plan from My side. "

“Look, it’s Baldy!” A boy shouted in my direction across the playground. Even though I was
used to regular insults(侮辱)because of the 41 on my head, it was 42 horrible to hear. I sighed as I headed back to the class.
When I was just 20 months old, I suffered serious 43 after a bowl full of hot oil fell on my head. I was 44 to hospital and had to stay there for weeks while the doctors 45 to save my life. “Holly’s very 46 to be alive,” they told Mum and Dad. “But she’ll be 47 with scars on her head, and of course her hair won’t grow there.”
As a child, I cared much about my scars, so I 48 wore a scarf to cover them up when I left home. 49 I didn’t, people would call me horrible names like Baldy. Although my friends were always comforting me, they never 50 understood how it felt.
Then through the hospital I was 51 to a children’s burns camp, where children like me can get any help. There I 52 14-year-old Stephanie, whose burns are a lot more serious than mine. But she is so 53 that she never lets anyone put her down. “You shouldn’t 54 what people say about what you look like because we’re not different from anyone else, Holly, ” She 55 me. “And you don’t need to wear a scarf because you look great 56 it!” For the first time in my life I could speak to someone who’d been through something 57 . So weeks later, at my 13th birthday party, 58 by her bravery, I gave up my scarf and showed off my scars. It felt amazing not having to 59 away behind my scarf.
Now, I am 60 of what I look like and much happier, because I have realized it is your personality that decides who you are.
