Mark Twain, like you know, was famous in his days as the public speaker. He always liked to
play joke on his friends. One day, the one of his friends lost their wallet and asked him to buy a
train ticket for him. “But I don’t have enough money to pay both your ticket and mine,” Mark Twain said. The friend didn’t know what to do. “Let’s do this, “ Mark Twain saying, “You can get off the train and when the conductor comes to check the ticket you can hide under my seat.” Later, however, when the conductor comes to check the ticket, Mark Twain gave him two tickets-----one for him and the other for his friend.

Like most of my schoolmates, I had neither brothers nor sisters --- in any other words, I am an only child. My parents love me deep of course and will do all they can make sure that I get a good education. They do not want me to do any housework at home, they want me to devote all my time to do my studies so that I’ll get good marks in all my subject. We are one family and live under a same roof, but we do not seem to get many time to talk with each other. It looks as if my parents treated me as a visitor or a guest. Do they really understand their own daughter? What things are in other families, I wonder.

Bob told me that he would like to be lawyer when he was at school. He had worked very hard at his lessons and tried to enter into a famous university, but something unhappily happened to his family, that made it necessary for him work for a living. As a young man, he had been a bus-driver, a dust-man or a salesman. Miss Evans taught physics in school in London．Last month she was explaining to one of her class about sound ，and she decide to test them to see what successful she had been in her work．She said to them， “Now I has a sister in Washington． If I called her by the phone， and you were on the other side of the street． Who would hear me first， my sister and you？ And why？” A clever boy at once answered， “You sister， Miss Evans， because the electricity travels much faster than sound waves．” “Very well，” Miss Evans praised．

One day, Henry Adams, the American businessman , was lost in London. He didn’t know what to do when two old and wealthy brother met him. They found that Henry arrived London by accident and he had no money. They gave him a letter and told him to open it until two o’clock. Before long, Henry , who was in rags, went into a restaurant .He ate as a wolf. In two o’clock, when he opened the letter, he was surprising but the waiter and the owner was shocked. A million pound bank note was in Henry hands. What interesting it was!
