I often quarrel about my mother over if I can watch TV after school. She holds view that senior three students have to make fully use of every minute to work hard at their lessons. It seems to me that once I am allowed to do that, I’ll unable to control myself and forget all about my study. She also thinks it is bad for my eye. But I really can’t accept her ideas. In my opinion, watch TV can set my mind at rest after a day’s hard work. Besides, it is important for us to know what had happened at home and at abroad. Therefore, we shouldn’t be forbidden to watch TV.

Al Smith, Governor of New York State, was born very poorly. He had less education in school, but he worked very hard and won great successes. One day, he paid a visit for the state prison at Sing Sing. The head of the prison asked Mr. Smith say something to the prisoners. He has never spoken to this kind of audience before, so he did not know where to begin. Finally he said, “My fellow citizens…” and then he remembered that when a man goes to the prison, he is no longer a citizen. He began again, “My fellow prisoners…” That wasn’t sound right. At last he said, “Well, however, I’m glad to see many of you here today.”

It was 2:10 in the afternoon when I entered the classroom. I was surprising to see our teacher operating the video camera. Most of us have never been in front of a video camera before, but we were very nervous. As for myself, I had once faced it at home. My uncle shot as we were celebrating for my sister’s birthday. However, this was complete different. We had to talk about our articles as if we were reading news on TV. The funny thing was every time I tried to face the cameras and talked about my article, I forgot the article and couldn’t help look down at it. It was quite a different experience for me, thanks to our teacher.

Yesterday I received a letter to my pen pal, Tina, who is an America. She said that she would come to visit me in two week. I was very excited about his arrival. I decided to prepare with a gift for her, but I didn’t know what to buy. I shopped around and find a beautiful china cup in a store. Tina loves China and she is fond of nothing about China. I thought it would be great gift for her, so I bought the cup and wrapped them up with colourful ribbons. Now I am looking forward to see Tina and giving her this gift.

A sports meeting was held in our school several days before. The last event was the 400-meter relay race, that had promised to be an exciting one. And so it was! Teams from every class joined in the race, but the winning team would be the champion of our school! So each player tries hard to win. The big crowd became quite silently and all of them had their eyes were focused as the team took their places. Heard the sound of the gun, the runners shot quickly and passed the relay sticks from one to another. Suddenly a runner from class 4 dropped his stick, but another runner picked them up and ran even faster. At the finishing lines, the runners from our class breasted the tape. Our class took a first place. Everyone cheered wildly and we felt extremely proud.
