This is a story told by my father: When I was boy, the most exciting thing was when to celebrate the Spring Festival. My grandma was the best cooker in th world but could make the most delicious dishes. Once, I just couldn’t wait for the Spring Festival dinner. As I was about take a piece from a cooked duck, I saw Grandma in the kitchen looking at me. Shake his head, she said, “It’s not a good time to do that, dear.” I apologize and controlled me at the best till the dinner started. You know, that was a dinner we had waited for several month.

Dear editor,
Some years ago, my hometown was used to be a beautiful place. Thick trees and grass can be seen all over the hills. As time going by, people destroyed almost the whole forest grow more crops. To make matters worse, people let their cattles eat up the grass. So you can only see wasteland instead green forests now. As a result of, when it rains, the soil is washed down the hills and into the rivers. Strongly winds also blow away the valuable soil lie on the top of the fields.
I do hope all the people will take good care of the forests but plant more trees to improve our living conditions.

Joe Sanders have the most beautiful garden in our town. Near everybody enters "The Nicest Garden Competition" each year, but Joe wins every time. Bill Frith's garden is large than Joe's. Bill works harder than Joe and grows more flower and vegetables, but Joe's garden is more interested. He has make neat paths and has built a wooden bridge over the pool. I like gardens too, and I do not like hard work. Every year I enter for the garden competition too, and I always win a little prize for the bad garden in the town!

During the weekend I traveled by the air for the first time in my life. I usual travel by train or bus. It’s both cheaper and safe. But to fly in the sky was something new to me. At the end I felt a little nervous. But very soon I became exciting when I found me high up in the sky among the clouds. I also found that mountains, fields, river and so on was interestingly small. I enjoy the frightening and comfortable journey very much. After all, it is more interesting take a plane than to take a car．

All hope was not lost. Soon after the quakes, the army sent 150,000 soldier to Tang Shan to help the rescue workers. Hundred of thousands of people were helped. The army organize teams to dig out those which were trapped and to bury a dead. To the north of the city, most of the 10,000 miners were rescued at the coal mines there. Workers built shelters for survivors whose homes have been destroyed. Fresh water were taken to the city by train, truck and plane. Slow, the city began to breathe again.
