Three years ago, I became a student in an ordinary school. Disappointing as I felt at the shabby campus and the poorly-equipped classroom, I find the teachers patient and considerate. However, I enjoyed the friendly atmosphere in class. I decided to make the best for it. I worked hardly and got along well with teachers and classmates. Whenever I had difficulties, they were always available. Soon, I became one of the top student in my class, what greatly increased my confidence and I got more motivated. My experience tells me that it is not what you are given but that how you use it that determine who you are.

Recently a top school in Nanjing announced its new rules. One of them is that students are not allowed to watching Hunan TV at weekends. Instead, CCTV is recommended. Once knowing to the public, the rule set off a heated discussion among teachers, students and parents. Some are in favour for the school’s decision, believing that children need properly guidance and a good cultural environment during the course of growth. Besides, they should keep away from program that may mislead them or affect their studies. On other hand, some people hold the view that children’s right to choose our own lifestyle should be respected. I think bans of this kind isn’t practical for schools. Instead, students should be guided to choose what will benefit from them.

Today is Mother’s Day. I love Mother very much that I’ve done many things for her.
In the morning I bought many flowers with pocket money and put it in the vase as soon as I returned to home. In the afternoon I went to the market to buy different kind of vegetables and cooked a simple and delicious dinner for my family. After supper, I gave Mother the card that I made by myself and said “Happy Mother’s Day” to her. Then I tell her to pay more attention to her healthy and not to overwork. I also promised to help her do many housework from today on. Hearing the words, Mother moved to tears.
Today is the special day, warm and meaningful.
