Welcome to our college. I am principal of the college and I’d just like to say something while your teacher is preparing to show you up a short video about our lovely college. We are all very pleased what you have decided to study at our college. Some of us will be here for only a few weeks, for you can’t afford to waste any time in your studies. Learn to speak any language involves practicing that language as much as you can. So from today, I recommend you will speak only English. While you are here, you should consider making as many friend as possible with those come from other countries so that you don’t spend too much time speaking your own. I’d like to tell you what our school had worked out a new program. The purposes of the program is to make our school more beautiful, and to turn our school into the better place for us to study and live in. According on the program, we will plant different kinds of trees, flower and grass around our school. Beside, we will build a small garden in where we can do some reading and take a rest. What’s more, some statues of famous people will set up to encourage us work harder. Don’t you think it a wonderful program?
There are many different signs in the public. They tell you what to do or what not to do in
a place. Do you know what they exact mean? For example, if you go to see a film, you should
enter the cinema at the ENTRANCE and leave for the EXIT. You will either find NO
SMOKING signs in many cinemas. If you visit a museum, don’t take some photos inside the
halls. You are not allowed. You will find NO PHOTOS signs in many museum. When
you drive a car, don’t park in a street without a NO PARKING sign. Making sure
you understood the signs and you won’t get into any trouble.

It is likely for anyone to be misunderstood for some reason. I am no exception. One day after school, I got on my bike and start heading home. I was just about to get out of the traffic jam outside our school while a woman stopped me, claim that my bike had scratched his car. I felt confused because that I clearly remembered that I was trying to avoid touching her car just now. Therefore, she insisted on blaming me and gradually rose her voice. Surrounded by the crowd, I got anxious and desperate wanted this to be over. So I made a compromise.
Never before in my life had I dealt with such thing, and I was apparently taken advantage of. Now I am aware that I should never give out as long as I am on the right side.

Today, Tony and I went to the countryside by the bus for the Strawberry-picking Festival. It starts at 8:00 in the morning. After the organizer introduced the rules of the festival, we led into the strawberry garden by some girls. While walking along the road, we saw beautiful flowers and heard birds sang. The air was much clean than that in the city when we live. During the festival, we enjoyed sweet strawberries or watched some exciting performances. At about 5:00pm, we had to say goodbye for the garden. Tony and I enjoyed us and hoped to visit there again. How an unforgettable experience!
