I truly hope that at the end of this short essay(短文) you will know how to learn English.
I was born in Somalia, and Italian is my mother tongue. 31 enough, soon after I arrived in London when I was 17, I was admitted to a sixth-form college. I found caring (体贴的) teachers there, who 32   taught me English. This, I think, was a(n) 33 factor(因素) that encouraged me to learn the language. The most important thing, 34, is to work hard. So those of you who don’t have such good teachers should not 35. When I was in London, I 36 myself to English learning as I 37 to go to university very much. Mastering the language was the only 38 to achieve my goal.
Now I have 39 my master’s degree from Oxford University. Looking back, I 40 I was quite innocent (天真的),for I never imagined learning English was going to be so much 41. The more fluent I become, the 42 the language became. One can master it only 43 years of tireless efforts(努力).
Some basic 44 which I would give to people who are interested in learning the language are:
1. Buy a good dictionary. 45 English learners use their dictionaries all the time.
2.46 English newspapers. Don’t forget to 47 the new words in your dictionary.
3. Listen to the radio 48 watching TV as listening to the radio helps you more.
4. Talk, talk and talk to 49 at anytime and anywhere.
And even though at times it may be embarrassing(尴尬的) to make 50,you will finally correct them and remember them. Soon you will start to become fluent.

It would be to see again, but a can do strange things to people. I don’t mean that I would prefer to go without my eyes. I simply mean that the of them made me more what I had.
Life, I believe, asks a continuous series of adjustmentsto reality. The more quickly a person is able to make these adjustments, the more his own private world becomes. The adjustment is never . I was totally confused and afraid. But I was lucky. My parents and my teachers saw something in me—the to live—which I didn’t see, and they made me want to against blindness.
The hardest I had to learn was to believe in myself. I am not talking about simply the kind of that helps me down an unfamiliar staircase alone. That is part of it. But I mean something bigger than that: the confidence that I am, despite being imperfect, a real, person; that there is a special place where I can make myself fit.
It took me years to discover and this confidence. It had to start with the simplest things. Once a man gave me an indoor baseball. I thought he was making fun of me and I was hurt. “I can’t use this.” I said. “Take it with you,” he me, “and roll it around.” The words in my head. “Roll it around!” By rolling the ball I could hear where it went. This gave me an idea how to achieve a goal I had thought : playing baseball. At Philadelphia’s Overbrook School for the Blind I a successful variation of baseball and I called it ground ball.
All my life I have set ahead of me a series of goals and then tried to reach them, one at a time. I had to be clear about my . It was no good trying for something that I knew at the start was wildly out of reach that only invited the bitterness of failure. I would sometimes anyway but on the average I made progress.

Years later, when I stood in the kitchen of my new house, thinking how I wanted to make my Christmas there special and memorable, I remembered the women’s visit. I decided that I wanted to create that same feeling of for as many children as I could possibly reach.
So I a plan and gathered forty people from my company tohelp. We gathered about 125 orphans (孤儿) at the Christmas party. For every child, we wrapped colorful packages filled with toys, clothes, and school supplies, with a child’s name. We wanted all of them to know they were . Before I called out their names and handed them their gifts, I them that they couldn’t open their presents every child had come forward. Finally the they had been waiting for came as I called out, “One, two, three. Open your presents!” As the children opened their packages, their faces beamed and their bright smiles up the room. The in the room was obvious, and wasn’t just about toys. It was a feeling – the feeling I knew that Christmas so long ago when the women came to visit. I wasn’t forgotten. Somebody thought of me. Our school is quite famous for its long history. It was founded in the early 1920s. It is a good place we can prepare ourselves well for the future. We have many wonderful teachers who are always ready to help. we pay a lot of attention to how well we do in lessons, achieving high scores is not the only reason to study. The teachers encourage us to try out new ideas and ask questions. With their help we have developed all kinds of interests in both Arts and Science. Students can choose to any school clubs they are in. We can also choose the subjects that we want to study. Last term I selected American Literature, because I wanted to learn about famous American writers. This term I chose to attend music classes because my father bought me a piano a birthday present.
