Last weekend we went mountain-climbing. Even the heavy rain in the morning could not prevent us go. Setting off very early, we went along an extreme narrow road, all in high spirits. On every side of the road were green fields and some farm house. We could hear the sound of the rain and our footsteps mixing with our laughter. At noon we reached top of the mountain. That surprised us most was the beauty of the scenery there. After having a short rest and sharing with the food we had bought, we started going down. It rained even harder. We are wet to the skin, and we still sang and laughed happily.

Behind my apartment, there was used to be a dirty and messy 
corner．Bits of plastic bags hanged on the trees．Broken bottles were left laying here and there．There was a damaging car in the center．The whole corner gave away an unpleasant smell．One year ago, we decided to turn it in a beautiful park．Since then, great changes have 
been taken place in that corner．All the rubbish have been cleared away．Flowers and young trees have planted all over．Now birds come 
here to sing, children come here to play, and adults come here to enjoy our peaceful life．It has taken on a new look．

Last Sunday I went to Beijing National Stadium. At gate I happened to meet some young America tourists. I greeted to them in English and then we began to chat. From the chat I learned that they were college students traveling in Beijing but most of them were fond of Chinese culture. They were busy taking pictures and they seem to be much impressed by the changes which had been taken place in the past few years. After come out of the Stadium, we went to the Water Cube and had a good time there. We exchanged our email address so that we could keep touch with each other later. They thanked us again and again. If you understood another culture， it can help you with your language learning. This is because your background knowledge will make easier for you to understand the content of a reading passage. For example, if you have some knowledges about History and geography of Australia, it will make it easier for you to understand passages relating to Australia. In the same way, if you have watched the film The Mutiny on the Bounty you will know the background about the journey of Captain Bligh across the Pacific Ocean. So you will be more better able to appreciate what great Captain Bligh’s achievement was in second unit. But the more you read and the wider your generally knowledge about another culture is, the quicker and easier your learn of that language will be.

During the summer holidays this year, I thought I should do anything meaningful instead of staying at home, so I have got a job at a KFC fast food restaurant, worked there as a cleaner．I worked seven hours a day for three weeks．
The job was hard and bored and seemed endless, which made me so tired that I nearly gave it in half way, but I stuck to it with determinations．Every day I started off for work early in the morning and got home lately in the evening．Finally I finished the job before the new term begins．
Now, I understand that labor means．I think it is really successful experience．
