The New Year is a holiday for many people. It is a day of leisure and celebrations. But for a lot of others it is a normal working day - they have to toil for the rest to celebrate. Many of the workers, small businesspeople, bus and train drivers and dispatchers work so that we can enjoy our holidays.
Most of our dreams are realized on the hard work of others. Their contributions add fresh colors to society. That's the reality of life. But society does not belong to the great and the successful alone. It belongs to those whose struggle never ceases.
Their condition may not change much in the New Year. Their achievements, even their existence, may not be acknowledged.
But we firmly believe they will never cease to move forward. There should be happiness in the lives of all.
Therefore, we solemnly send our New Year greetings to them, to the common folks whose struggle for a better life never ceases.
They are humble, but it is their joint endeavor that propels society forward. They may not share the wealth and power they so richly deserve, but their position in society can never be disputed.

School News: Yesterday, Dec. 14, the grand ceremony: To Build Our School an Eco-school(国际生态学校), was held on the school playground. First, our geography teacher just gave us a very brief introduction about Eco-school, which is one of five environmental education programmes run internationally by the Foundation for Environmental Education(FEE). It is the biggest environmental education programme for young children all over the world. It aims to help the school improve the environment, raise their awareness of environment. Being a member of the programme, we students can share on the Internet experience with foreign students, which could provide a bigger stage for us.

When students first go to a library, they may be at a loss as to what to read of all the different
subjects. Well, Bacon tells you to “look at weak places in your armor (盔甲)”, and shows you how to fill up the blanks in your knowledge. On the other hand, it is no good just trying to fill your mind with knowledge. Knowledge in itself is often useless. A mind filled with too much knowledge is like a room too full of furniture; a man cannot walk about freely in it, and look out of the windows. It is much better to concentrate on a few subjects that interest you and to deal lightly with the others than to march heavily through the whole range of learning, like a silly tourist going through a museum and not missing a single object. If you try to master every subject you may become very wise, but you will be very lonely and you will probably lose all your friends. If you watch it eating, you will see that although he is supposed to be one of the most stupid animals in the world, he has at least one of the qualities of the cultured man, the power to pick and choose.
