A gathering of more than 700 oriental storks(东方白鹳)was recorded at Naolihe National Nature Reserve in Heilongjiang Province last month. Such a big gathering has been seen before in the reserve. The researchers had often recorded only about 150 in the past autumns. Now the population of the large white birds for black wing feathers and long legs are estimated at 3.000 in the world. It is certain a sign that the reserve’s conservation is better now and before. The reserve is considered it as one of the most important stopover site for oriental storks. The storks winter in it and the researchers will keep a eye on the birds until you fly away.

Last Sunday morning, where I was having a walk in the park near my home, I came across many people make a new film with one of my favorite actor. I didn’t have my camera with me at that time, but I rushed back home to get one. Unfortunately, by the time I got back, they had finished the scene and the actor couldn’t be seen everywhere. I was really disappointing and about to leave when he walked out a building. He was right there in the front of me! I couldn’t believe my luck——not only did I had my photo taken with him, but he signed his name on my shirt!

It was almost five years since I began to learn English. I’m glad to say I’m getting along well with it. However, first I came across a lot of difficulties. I couldn’t pronounce English sounds good, nor could I remember the words I had learned. In class, I couldn’t understand that the teacher had said. I almost lost my heart when the teacher said to me, “Keeping on and you will do well.” I was greatly encouraging. I started working hard at English. With the help by my teacher and classmates, I made some progresses. I’m very pleased, but I will work harder.

This morning I went to the shoes shop to buy a pair of new shoes. When I got there, I noticed a foreign lady talk to a salesgirl. But the salesgirl didn’t understand that the foreigner was saying. They both looked worrying. I went up to help them. The lady is Australian. She wanted to buy a pair of traveling shoes. So I told it to the salesgirl. The lady was very much glad when she took it. She sings high praise for my spoken English. All of them expressed their thanks to me. I felt happy that I expressed myself free in English.
