On Thursday, Oct.11, 2012, Mo Yan won the 2012 Nobel Prize in Literature. Mo Yan is the first Chinese writer to win the prize, which also comes with an award of $1.2 million US dollars.
Mo Yan is fifty-seven. His real name is Guan Moye. MoYan means “Don’t speak.” He uses the name because he wants to stop himself from getting into trouble.
