Yesterday, I met a delightful woman at a work event. As we talked, she told me about her in Manila, Philippines. She spoke about the her culture values their elders, and she explained that children are from the time of birth to respect and people older than themselves.
It was to hear that,so I enjoyed listening and learning. Here is her memory I found so beautiful:
When she was growing up, her father had three jobs to his family. She said her dad never , and though he worked very hard, he always had for them. One day, her father was at his full-time job. For several months, he was mailed temporary disability checks he was recovering.
When her father was able to return to his full-time job, he took all those disability that were sent to him while he was recovering and handed them back to the .He told them that he had two good legs and arms, and did not need this money. He told them to give the money to people who could not work, to people who needed it.
The woman telling the story was a little girl at that time. She had her father that very day when he went back to his company all those unopened checks. "My father is my hero," she . Lowering her voice, she said she would never forget what he did, and what an and influential mentor(导师) he was on how to live a life.
From my communication with her, it was that her father's same sweet spirit had been to this woman, and to her family. Hearing this story was so refreshing to my soul. I hope it is for you too.

I have a friend who had a stammer (口吃) in his childhood, but he dreamed of becoming a missionary(传教士). When he told his own desire to his friends and relatives, some of whom laughed at him, and some even held down his enthusiasm .
"I must change it." said the boy angrily, “I believe I can speak very , I will do!"
When it was possible, he would spend an hour to chickens. He viewed the chickens as living persons, himself to be the person in the speech.
"In the beginning, the chickens looked so , then they watched me curiously, putting down the food in the mouths and listening to my words. It seemed as if they had been by my powerful and effective language. Sometimes they seemed to be listening to me . Gradually, the effect of this practice became more and more and I had a better understanding of the exact of my stammer, so I found the ability to speak more."
"You may not know that my father was always tyrannical(专横的). He believed in the old saying: 'Young man should be more knowledgeable, but should not much.' My grandfather went to high school in the 1920s. While in school, he became in the drama program, acting in various productions. He in touch with his drama teacher.
My father went to high school in the 1960s. Like his before him, he acted in high school. He, too, stayed in touch with his drama teacher for the rest of the teacher's I graduated in 1997. When Hoover, my drama teacher, was in Alaska, I didn't want her to feel like she was ending her life , so I sent her many packages, including Drama Club yearbook photos from each year she there in order that she could see the students whose lives she forever .
Her nickname for our group of Drama Club was "the Throwaway Kids". , no? She described us as that we were nonconformists (不墨守成规者) that other teachers didn't know what to do with. She simply us for who we are, and that was exactly what we needed.
We have all become members of society: reporters, lawyers, and singers, soldiers, doctors and, you guessed it, teachers. Every member of my family is a teacher. This year the 73rd year we have taught in Alaska altogether.
me, teaching the course is only one important part of the job. As I returned to my classroom just before the final bell on the last day of school in May, I thought how the most emotional part of the experience will not be seeing the recent return to say "hello" at Christmas. That was how the of keeping in touch with our teachers our whole life long began in my family. Honestly, learning a lifetime.
