Welcome to the Polynesian Cultural Centre! You are entering a world of funs! My name is called Tera, a Polynesian name which mean “the sun”. I’m very glad you can come today and learn about some of the amazing Polynesian way. As you can see, here behind myself is one of their boats. To build a boat like this, you needed a very tall, straight tree. You first cut down the tree and remove the branch.
Then you cut the tree in half so you have two long pieces of woods. You use one piece to make the boat. Remove the inside for a person to sit. Take the bark off the outside of the boat and puts oil on it so it will easily go through the sea. Some Polynesian boats have sails.

About one year before, we got a lovely cat named Dexter. He enjoys watching my elderly neighbor in her garden. Although he won’t let her to touch him, he always keeps an eye on her.
One afternoon I heard Dexter calling strange. When I reached the door to check on him, his calling stops, so I headed back to kitchen. Just as I did, his calling started again. I stepped outside to find Dexter sit next to my elderly neighbor who had fallen. He didn’t have the strength to get up and shout for help. Dexter didn’t leave her sides until help arrived. With Dexter, she might not have been found in time.

Yesterday I showed to my friend Peter around Beijing city. We started off at8:00 a.m. First we went to the Forbidden City, which was one of the most popular touristspot in Beijing. Then we visited the History Museum. We observed a lot of valuablethings in them and we learned a lot about Chinese history. After a quick meal, we wentto Beihai Park. Upon arrival, we were all struck by its beautiful scenes. We spent awhole afternoon appreciated the wonder. It wasuntil 18:00 p. m. that we went back.
We did have a wonderful time. Peter was very pleased with my arrangement that heinvited me to a new-built western restaurant to have a big meal.

Union is strength no matter when you’re facing difficulties or in a dilemma. Cooperation plays an important part in getting you out of trouble.
There was a time when I was too proud that I overlooked my classmate, refusing to work together with them. Therefore, it was no doubt that I was left alone, suffering from loneliness and failure. Unfortunately a teacher impressed on me the value of cooperation. From then on, I learned to help others and turn to my friends for the help whenever I had difficulty finish a task on my own. Surely cooperation made a great difference. Now I am getting well with my friends.
My experience has teach me that only if we attach great importance with cooperation, can we go beyond ourselves. As the saying go “United, we stand; divided, we fall.”

As new students at an university in Boston, many of us were unfamiliar with the campus but frequently late for class.
