I used to hate being called upon in class mainly because I didn’t like attention drawn to myself. And 51 otherwise assigned(指定)a seat by the teacher, I always 52 to sit at the back of the classroom.
All this 53 after I joined a sports team. It began when a teacher suggested I try out for the basketball team. At first I thought it was a crazy 54 because I didn’t have a good sense of balance, nor did I have the 55 to keep pace with the others on the team and they would tease me. But for the teacher who kept insisting on my “ 56 for it”, I wouldn’t have decided to give a try.
Getting up the courage to go to the tryouts was only the 57 of it! When I first
started 58 the practice sessions, I didn’t even know the rules of the game, much 59 what I was doing. Sometimes I’d get 60 and take a shot at the wrong direction—which made me feel really stupid. 61 , I wasn’t the only one “new” at the game, so I decided to 62 on learning the game, do my best at each practice session, and not be too hard on myself for the things I
didn’t 63 “just yet”.
I practiced and practiced. Soon I knew the 64 and the “moves”. Being part of a team was fun and motivating. Very soon the competitive 65 in me was winning over my lack of confidence. With time, I learned how to play and made friends in the 66 — friends who respected my efforts to work hard and be a team player. I never had so much fun!
With my 67 self-confidence comes more praise from teachers and classmates. I have gone from 68 in the back of the classroom and not wanting to call attention to myself, 69 raising my hand— even when I sometimes wasn’t and not 100 percent 70 I had the right answer. Now I have more self-confidence in myself.

My first visit to London was one and a half years ago. It was a wonderful .
I stayed in the city for three weeks, and it a good impression on me.
I visited the Tower Bridge and the famous Big Ben clock, I dreamed of seeing in the past. And I went on a tourist on the River Thames and saw two coasts.
I to the Tower of London, and I want to say that it is a very interesting Place. I found out that a long time ago, it was a prison. Later it a castle for the royal family. Or maybe it is not; I’m not . But later they left this place and lived in Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace.
In London, you can also nature. There are many such as Regent’s Park, Hyde Park, Green Park, St. James Park, and Holland Park. These parks are wonderful green, places where you can and escape the noise of the city.
Trafalgar Square is a popular for students and other young people. You will find lots of there. If you have time, you can feed them and they will be very . You can buy special food for them, but be ! Tons of birds are going to you if you feed them.
The museums in London also impressed me . I found them interesting because you can about the history of England. I had a wonderful time in London. I really liked it it is a city that is rich in history.

Many parents find it hard to explain to their kids why some movies ,music ,books and magazines are not acceptable for them. One father listened to all the his children gave for wanting to see a particular movie. It had their favorite . Everyone else was seeing it and said it was great. It was only rated PG-13 (parental guidance ) because of in it . The teens did that there was a scene, but it was “ just a little” wrong .It wasn’t anything really However, the father still wouldn’t . He just said, “ No!”
That evening, the father asked his kids if he would like the favorite bread he . He said that he’d “Just a little” something extra. The children asked what it was . The father said it was “ just a little” dog poop (屎). , he quickly assured them it was “ just a little”. All the other ingredients were of good . He was sure the bread would be . Even with their father’s assurance , the teens held firm to their original thoughts, and would not the bread. The father then explained to his children how the they wanted to see with “ just a little” bit of bad stuff in it was just like the bread. It tries to our minds and our lives by deceiving (欺骗) us into that “ just a little” bit of evil won’t matter. The is “just a little” of poop that makes the difference between a great treat and something , which is totally unacceptable.
Now when his father’s children want to something that is of questionable material, the father merely asks them if they want some of his special dog poop bread. That the subject .

I want to make the most of every day. And, like most people, I've that the best way to do it is to let go of past failures. But that's not all. One can never fully today while thinking too much about past successes, either. People never while resting comfortably on their laurels (荣誉). The is that sometimes our successes hold us back more than our failures!
I once a story about the Oscar owner, actor Clark Gable. A friend Gable one afternoon at the actor's home. She brought along her son, who was playing happily with toy cars on the floor. He he was racing those cars around a great track, which in was an imaginary circle around a golden statue (雕像). The small statue the boy played with was actually the Oscar Clark Gable for his performance in the 1934 movie It Happened One Night.
When his mother told him the time had come to ,the little boy asked the actor, “Can I have this?” to the Oscar.
“Sure,” he smiled. “It's yours.”
The horrified mother . “Put that back immediately!”
Giving the child the golden statue, Clark Gable said, “Having the Oscar around doesn't mean anything to me; it does.” The actor seemed to know that past success could be a hammock (吊床) upon which he may be tempted to , rather than a springboard setting him to begin a new start.
You may have learned to let go of past and mistakes in order to free the present. But will you forget past successes and achievements in order to free the ?Will your past be a springboard or a restful hammock?
“I like the of the future better than the history of the past,” said Thomas Jefferson. I . After all, the future, not the past, is where the rest of your life will be lived.

Cecile and I have been friends since college, for more than thirty years. Our friendship has constant. We have seen each other through all the times when we really need a friend. In of our friendship, Cecile and I took our first trip together.
The first day of our trip ended in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
from the long drive, we decided to go to the restaurant for dinner. We sat down and our meal. As we talked, I noticed a(n) couple sitting a short distance away from us. The look of on the woman’s face attracted me. She stared into the face of the man as he talked, me of a teenager in love!
I called Cecile’s to the couple. As we watched, the man reached to place a gentle kiss on the woman’s cheek. She . “Now that’s what I call real love! I imagine they’ve been married for a long time.” I said. “ maybe,” remarked Cecile, “they haven’t been together long.” “Well, whatever the case, it’s they care much for each other,” I said.
Cecile and I watched and listened to their conversation. She smiled and whatever he said. We were touched by the warm scene we were witnessing. Then the changed. The woman’s wrinkled but beautiful face was suddenly covered with a look. She asked the man in a sweet voice, “Do I know you? What is this place?” “You know me. I’m Ralph, your husband. We’re in Santa Fe,” the man said. “Oh, I to have forgotten. I’m not sure,” she said.
“That’s okay, sweetheart. You’ll be all right,” he her, kissing her cheek again. Tears coursed down our cheeks as Cecile and I looked at each other. “We were right,” she said . “It is the real thing. That is love.”
