As time went by, they became good friends and often sent cards and small things to each other.
When Jean’s father told her that he was going on a business trip to San Francisco, she asked him to let her go with him, so that she could give David a surprise for his birthday. Many people believe that life has smiled on Yang Mi: at the age of 4, she got her first TV drama role; at 16, she became a model for a fashion magazine; at 18, she went to her dream college — Beijing Film Academy (北京电影学院).
Last year, the 24-year-old actress played bad girl Luo Qingchuan in the time-travelling TV drama, Palace (《宫锁心玉》). The drama became a big success and made Yang very famous. The number of her micro blog followers rises from several thousand to more than 3 million overnight.
Could she be any luckier? Yang doesn’t think luck had anything to do with her success. She works hard all by herself. “Every chance is achieved from the efforts I’ve made,” said Yang. People now think she’s very hard-working.
She still remembers the time when people gave her the cold shoulder. People treated her with little love. They didn’t want to help her in her time of need. “I have to thank them because they gave me the strength to prove myself,” she said
That’s why she is eager to help others when they are in need.

Old George bought the black gloves for just $35 ten years ago. They were made of lamb skin, soft and warm and very strong. Until then, he had worn cheaper manmade material. Those gloves never lasted longer than three years. He first decided to buy the expensive gloves, because they would make him feel nice in front of others.
George never let a drop of water or rain touch his expensive gloves, so they looked new. Losing this favourite thing was almost like losing a child to him.
Bad luck! George lost his expensive gloves on New Year's Day.
Back home, George was at a loss. In deep winter, he could not do without a pair of gloves. If he bought cheap ones again, he would have to replace (更换) them very soon. If he bought a new leather pair, it would cost $50 now. He was upset that people no longer returned things they found on the road.
After the holiday, poor George decided to buy another leather pair. Before boarding the subway, he went into Value Mart again to see if his gloves had been returned to the Lost and Found Office (失物招领处).
“What colour are they?” the woman in the office asked again.
“Black,” he gave the same answer. She looked into her drawer and drew out a pair of men's leather gloves. “Are they?”
“Yes! Those are mine!” George explained, with great joy in his eyes.

People are always afraid of making mistakes. But sometimes it's not bad to make mistakes, and here is why.
At first, mistakes are a clear sign that you are trying new things. It's always good to try new things, because when you are trying new things you are growing. If you never try new things, how can you improve? How can you create? The simple answer is,“You can't.” Look around you, everything you see is the result of someone trying new things.
Another good thing about mistakes is this: when you are making mistakes, you are learning. Consider this: Edison failed 10,000 times before he invented the light bulb. When he was asked how he felt to fail that many times, he said that he hadn't failed 10,000 times, but rather had learned 10,000 things that didn't work.
Finally, when you make a mistake, you are that much closer to success. Why? Because you have said what you should say, and you have done what you should do. Every time you make a mistake, you are closer to success. But it doesn't mean that you can make mistakes without thinking. Instead, when you try new things you have to think them over, so that you can keep away from some unnecessary mistakes.
We shouldn't spend all our time and money on the only one way, but use them correctly. Because our time and money are limited (有限的).
There is an old saying, “If you are not making mistakes, you are not trying hard enough.” So go bravely and make mistakes. And learn. And grow. And succeed.
If you are making a mistake, that means________.

A.you're careful B.you're kind
C.you're growing D.you know nothing

If you never try new things, you can't________.

A.improve B.create C.spend D.A and B

After Edison failed 10,000 times, he________.

A.gave up
B.invented the light bulb
C.invented the computer
D.invented 10,000 new things

When you make a mistake, you are closer to________.

A.time B.money C.success D.everything

What's the main idea of the passage?

A.Never make mistakes.
B.You can make mistakes without thinking.
C.Sometimes it's good to make mistakes.
D.Making mistakes is terrible.
