Car Free Day encourages drivers to give up their cars for a day to protect the environment . People from around the world get together in the streets to remind the world that we don’t have to accept the society full of cars . It was first started by 34 cities in France and September 22 is Car Free Day . The first Car Free Day in China was in Chengdu in 2001. The slogan for the day is “If we drive for one less day , we can have one more nice day .”
Organized activities are held in many cities on Car Free Day . In Brussels, Car Free Day shall be valid (有效的)for everybody except persons with a special permit (许可证)， but they have to slow down to the speed of 30 kilometers per hour . The public transportation is free on that day. In London, they have special “green areas”.Walking, biking, and public transportation are encouraged. The streets are open only to walkers ,bicycles and buses from 7:00a.m. to 7:00 p.m. In Beijing , it asks drivers to leave their cars at home for one day each month and walk or ride a bike to work . More and more people are joining in the activity. In the first quarter of this year ,Beijing only had 52 blue sky days , and you may see haze(雾霾) almost every day ! We must do more for Car Free Day as a Beijing driver said , “ We may not change the weather, but we can choose not to drive.”
But we do not want just one day and then a return to “ normal ” life . We should go on with Car Free Day.

Should Shanghai bid for(申办) the Summer Olympics in 2028? Here are some people’s opinions.
Some people said, “The games will improve Shanghai’s global influence and the city is powerful and must try to become a platform(平台) for major international dialogues. Shanghai has succeeded in holding the World Expo in 2010 and the city can also hold a successful Summer Olympics.”
Others, however, are not sure that it’s a good idea. They think the Olympics would be too expensive and the money could be better spent on other things.
The 2008 Beijing Olympics brought much prestige(声望) to the city and to China, but its cost, over $40 million, was high and the Olympic site(场地) in the center of the city is now largely unused. Could Shanghai learn from Beijing’s experience and do it better?
My answer is yes. As one American said, “A great city has to do great things.” Shanghai is a great city and is not afraid of facing challenges. Holding the 2028 Summer Olympics would prove that.

I think people should do more things online from home. Why pollute the air by driving your car to the supermarket, when you can order your weekly shopping on the Internet~ You can also book holidays as well.

I try to use public transportation whenever I can. I take the bus to college and walk home. When my mum wants to give me a lift, I always refuse, as I can get there quickly by bus. Also the buses in my town are electric so they are environmentally friendly!

Why not use two wheels? Any motorcycle will use less fuel (燃料)an a car. You don't get caught in traffic jams either. But in my opinion, the best thing is a bicycle. They don't produce any pollution and help you to keep fit at the same time.

I can't get to my university by bus or train. So I found three other girls who live nearby to have a car share with. And now we take it in turns to drive every day. I have cut down the costs -- and most importantly,- I am helping the environment!
