When I was young, I really doubted whether there was love between my parents.Every day they were busy earning money so that they could 36 the high tuition my brother and I needed. They didn’t 37 in the romantic ways that I read in books or saw on TV.
One day, Mom was sewing a quilt(被子).I 38 sat down beside her.“Mom, I have a 39 here,” I said after a while.“Is there love between you and Dad?” I asked her in a very 40 voice.
Mom stopped her work and raised her head with 41 in her eyes. She didn’t answer immediately. She bent her head and continued to sew the quilt.I was 42 if I had hurt her.I was in great embarrassment and I was at a loss what to do.But at last she said, very 43 , “Susan, look at this 44 .Sometimes it appears, but most of it disappears in the quilt. The thread really makes the quilt strong and lasting. If 45 is a quilt, then love should be a thread. It can hardly be seen, but it’s really there. 46 is inside.”
I listened carefully but I couldn’t understand her until years later.
One day, Dad accidentally got 47 while on duty.Ever since then he could no longer 48
properly.Every morning and dusk Mom would help Dad walk slowly on the country road.Along the country road, there were beautiful flowers, green grass and trees. The leaves were gently glistening 49 the sun shining upon them. All of these made up the most beautiful 50 in the world.
“Dad, how are you feeling now?”” I asked him one day. “Susan, don’t worry shout me,” he said gently. “I just like walking with your mom.I like this kind of life.” Looking into his eyes, I 51 what they meant.
The doctor had said Dad would 52 in two months. But that day never came.He 53 away in peace.
54 I thought love meant flowers, gifts and sweet kisses. But from this 55 , I understand that love is just a thread in the quilt of our life, which makes life strong and warm…

When we talk about a bad man, we like to call him a “wolf”. But is it really true that the wolf stands for devil and ugliness?
Have you read the book “The Wolf Totem” by a famous writer Jiang Rong, which tells the story of the relationship between wolves and human beings? Have you ever 36 the wolves' world? If you had, you would 37 the wolves.
In the book, wolves are heroes on the large grassland. They know more about 38 than humans. They can attack lambs without disturbing their mothers. They also know how to39 full use of the shape of land to 40 sheep. I believe that if wolves were humans, they would be41 experts good at fighting.
The wolf is a kind of special creature that can deeply understand 42 . Each wolf serves its group with its heart and soul. A 43 wolf has little power, but a pack of wolves 44 nothing. All the wolves obey the rules. 45 they are defeated, they run away together. It is their teamwork 46 makes wolves powerful.
The wolves also have great self-respect and won't 47 to anyone. The writer, who wrote the book “The Wolf Totem”, 48 stole a one-month-old baby wolf and raised it very carefully. To his 49 , he found the little wolf still wanted to go back with 50 wolves. He bit through the iron chain that limited him. The wolf was 51 and he never gave in, fighting 52 his death. The little wolf died as a glorious fighter.
I was shocked by this kind of 53 : wolves are one of the most respected creatures on earth. I want everyone to look at wolves in a 54 way. They are our teachers. They show us how to survive and 55in this not simple and dangerous world. Please honor the wolves, please honor all these heroes of nature!

Tears clouded my eyes as I stood in our washing room, holding Brett’s jeans and full of burn holes.
Tired and defeated, I 31 to the floor. The clothes were just one more thing Brett had 32 . He often got almost everything in the house out of 33 . Many windows in our house needed repair due to his breaking 34 to steal money when he chose to live on the street. Yet none of this could compare to the emotional 35 Brett had done to our once quiet home.
Brett came to live with us when he was 12 years old. During the next few years I had dealt with Brett a 36 as possible, but inside I was shouting. “I don’t want him in my house another day, Lord! I just can’t 37 him!” Having wiped my tears, I continued 38 him as before.
When Brett was nearly 18, he landed again in Juvenile Hall(少管所). After that, my husband and I had to send Brett to a boarding school for helping 39 teens.
At the 40 ceremony, each graduate held a white rose to give to the person who had41 the most to him or her. Brett spoke 42 to his parents and then spoke to me, “You did so much. You were always there, no matter 43 . My mom and dad, I was their kid. But you,44 troubled enough by me, always 45 me such love. And I want you to know I love you for it.”
46 , I stood as Brett placed the white rose in my hand and hugged me 47 .
At that moment, tears 48in my eyes again, this time not for disappointment but for 49 . Although I had struggled with silent 50 toward my stepson, Brett had seen only my actions. Love is action. We may not always have positive feelings about certain people in our lives, but we can love them.

Twelve years ago yesterday, my mother gave birth to the most beautiful girl. 31 , we were later given the 32 that this little girl, who was three and a half months old, would only have 14 days on the earth. It’s hard to understand what kind of33 you have when you find out that you’re 34 something that you don’t even know.
As time went on, the number of days kept growing, which gave us 35 . When the doctors said that we could take her home, that was 36 reality hit. We had no 37 .
I am from a small town with 38 hospitals, but when you don’t have money, you just don’t have it. My mother tried for days to get the money, but nothing 39 each time. A caseworker(社会工作者) was even doing her best. It’s 40 that it almost felt as if we had to 41 a baby from the hospital.
One day the caseworker walked into her boss’s office to 42 again. As she walked out,43 down yet again, out of nowhere a man walked up to her. He 44her a handful of money and said, “Please give this to the lady in 45 , so she can take her daughter home.” She looked down at her hand with tears in her eyes. As she looked back up to thank him, he was 46 . They searched all over that hospital and he was no where to be 47 .
Thanks to the guy that I will 48 know, we could take home that 49 baby girl that was only given 14 days to live, and celebrated her 12th birthday yesterday. I am grateful to this man and feel that his act of 50 should be shared with everyone.
