Now, more and more people have difficulties in falling asleep. “In fact, we can train our brain to fall asleep,” says sleep expert Michael Grandner. Here are his top ways.

Make a plan and stick to it.

Melatonin (褪黑素) is produced by the body to control when you get sleepy and when you wake up. As night falls, the levels of melatonin rise, telling the body that it’s time for bed. And the levels naturally fall as daylight comes near, getting you ready to greet the day.

The release (释放) of melatonin needs to be at regular (有规律的) times. So if your bedtime and wake-up time change from day to day, your body doesn’t know how to respond (回应). So it’s important to have a regular bedtime and wake up time, even on weekends.

Don’t lie in bed awake.

In factthis way is very helpful. Whether it’s the beginning of the night or the middle of the night, if you’ve been awake for 20 or 30 minutes, get up. Maybe you just need five minutes to get sleepy, or maybe an hour, but don’t spend that time awake in bed.

Change your attitude (态度) about sleep.

Many people regard sleeping as the final thing in a busy day, so they would rather delay sleeping to do housework, schoolwork or others. That thought needs to be changed. Make sure your sleep time is enough in order to work better the next day. It may sound like a small change, but it’s an important one.

A Chinese knot (中国结) is woven (编织) with a single rope (). It has different shapes. Each shape has its own meaning. People can use ropes of different colors to weave a Chinese knot, but they usually use red because it means good luck.

The teen years can be a stressful time for both teenagers and their families. While everyone has stress, teens have new and different kinds of stress they may have never before had. As a parent, you play an important role in helping your teens to deal with stress.

Talk to your teens when you notice signs of stress. Some of the signs that make your teens get stressed out might include unhappiness, worry or physical illness. Ask them what you can do to help. Talking to them can be helpful.

Advise your teens to get enough physical exercise. Exercise reduces(减少) the production of stress chemicals in the body and helps to sleep well. Ask your teens what kind of activity they think they might enjoy—that way, they’ll be more likely to keep practicing it.

Help your teens manage their daily activities by making a timetable. Many teens feel stressed because they feel like they don’t have enough time in the day, so they have too much pressure. Make a timetable that includes enough time for homework and family time.

Make sure that your teens can get enough sleep each night. A lack(缺少) of sleep can cause feelings of stress. Most teens need between 8.5 and 9.25 hours of sleep each night. During the past summer season, photos of snow leopards were taken by five different special cameras in Pingwu, Sichuan province, surprising many wildlife scientists. This shows that the living area of snow leopards in China’s southwestern mountains has become larger.

Pingwu, about 4,200 meters above the sea level, is famous for being home to a large number of wild pandas. The fourth national survey of pandas in 2015 found that there were 1,864 wild pandas in China, including 335 in Pingwu. As a result, over half of Pingwu’s land area has become part of the Panda National Park, which has a planned area of 22,000 square kilometers across Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu provinces. It is among five national parks China named in October, 2021.

Through shutting down mines (煤矿), planting more trees and other measures, protection efforts in the park have not only made pandas less endangered, but also are offering safety and protection for other rare species (珍稀物种). About 87% of the Panda National Park lies in Sichuan. It’s the home of more than 8,000 species of animals and plants.

The province has used special cameras and forest protectors as a closely connected protection system. Thousands of forest protectors have been working year-round on more than 900 routes. Over the past four years, they have met rare animals for about 1,600 times. In Pingwu alone, more than 4,100 species of plants and 1,900 species of animals have benefited from the protection of pandas. For example, the number of takin, a rare animal, has increased by 10% over the past ten years. Meanwhile, the protection of pandas causes the development of human society, too.

(1). Why does the Panda National Park include Pingwu?

A.

Because Pingwu is about 4,200 meters above the sea level.

B.

Because there are 1,864 wild pandas in Pingwu.

C.

Because there are many wild pandas in Pingwu.

D.

Because it has an area of 22,000 square kilometers.
