He Junquan is a Chinese swimmer and has won many Paralympic(残奥会) gold medals. Born in Jingmen, Hubei province, He Junquan was a healthy boy. But one day at the age of three, he climbed up to the high-voltage electricity(高压线) box and lost both of his arms forever. He became a disabled boy!
From then on he learnt to do everything with his feet: writing, eating, getting dressed and taking things. Seeing other pupils swimming in the river, he jumped in, too. Without arms, he suffered a lot in the river at the beginning. But he finally learnt to balance himself in water and could swim much faster than the other pupils. Once he even saved a little boy who fell into the water and couldn’t swim. His father was so happy to see that this son had a talent in swimming.
In 1995, He Junquan became a real swimmer. He practices swimming for more than four hours every day. Since 1996, he has won more than twelve gold medals of the world class. At the 2008 Summer Paralympics, he won a silver medal. Reporting on the competition at the 2008 Games, Will Swanton of the Sydney Morning Herald wrote:
“The Water Cube has been a sight for sore(气愤的) eyes. China’s He Junquan, with no arms, was leading the 50m backstroke(仰泳) final. … He came to the finish— and had to crash into the wall with his head. All students need to have good study habits(习惯). When you have good study habits, you learn things quickly. You also remember them easily.
Do you like to study in the living room? This is not a good place, because it is usually too noisy. You need to study in a quiet place , like your bedroom. A quiet place will help you only to think about one thing.
When you study , do not think about other things at the same time . Only think about your homework. If you do so, you will do your homework more quickly, and you will make fewer mistakes(错误).

If you go to visit London, you’ll see a lot of buses and cars on the road. You’ll also see many bikes because more people travel by bike. Why? There are many reasons. First, it is very cheap to buy a bike, and it is quick, too. You often need to wait for a bus for half an hour. When the bus comes, there are so many other buses and cars on the roads, so the bus moves very slowly.
I travel to work by bus for about four years. I often arrive at work late and feel tired. Then one day, a friend of mine says, “I go to work by bike. Why don’t we travel together?” “Because my bike is old, and there are so many buses and cars on the roads. I’ll feel frightened.” I answer. “Don’t be afraid, if you follow me and we ride slowly, you’ll be fine.” he says.
Later, I buy a new bike. We go slowly, but we arrive at work quickly. I spend 40 minutes going by bus, but only half an hour by bike! Now I love riding a bike. And I feel healthy. Many people think my idea is good and maybe you’ll see more bikes on the road in the future. I travel to work by bus for ________.

C.about four years | D.two years |
