When I was 5 years old, I went to the USA with my mom. I can still remember the first Halloween holiday I had in the USA.
On Halloween, we paid a visit to a pumpkin farm in the morning. Each of us (bring) a pumpkin to school. I used the pumpkin to make a lantern
had two triangle (三角的) eyes and a scary
. In the afternoon, we put on the Halloween costumes(化妆服) and went on parade(游行) in school. Some of the costumes were nice, but some of them looked scary. I chose to wear a suit of Superman’s clothes.
I did a lot of things on that day, but the part I liked best was “trick or treat” in the evening.
After dinner, I went outside with an empty bag. I (hope) to get a lot of candies from people. At first, I was a little
, so when I knocked at the door, my heart was
(beat) very fast. A lady came out, and I said
(careful) to her, “Trick or treat”. My voice was very low, and even I myself could hardly hear it. To my
, the lady was so kind to give me two candy bars. I was so
, thanked the lady and moved on. I couldn’t remember how many houses I visited, but I could remember how many candies I got – I got 91 pieces of candy that day. I was so proud of
(I).
What a happy Halloween I had! And I wish that we could have a Halloween every month!
The smell of coffee wakes me. I run into the . There Pa is! Pa lifts me onto his shoulders. Ma says, “I’m going to bake a . Go down to the cellar(地窖), Jimmy, and bring me that jar of apples from the shelf.” That’s the last jar---the we’ve been saving and saving to welcome Pa home.
I take down the jar carefully and put both my hands around it. I can Pa and Ma laughing upstairs. I hurry up the steps. I take the steps two at a time but my
catches on the middle one. The jar slips(滑落) through my fingers and on the floor. Bits of apple fly everywhere.
“Are you hurt?” Ma comes . I look at her face. “Go on upstairs now. Don’t cut your feet.” I want her to be at me, but that’s all she says. Upstairs, Pa wipes my eyes. “Never mind, son, accidental happens.” I bury my face in Pa’s old jacket. I wish I hadn’t hurried.
Ma comes back. She kisses my cheek. “Now out of the kitchen,” Ma says. “I’m going to a special sugar pie, and it doesn’t need apples.”
Pa and I go out. I show him the place I caught a rabbit. He measures me against the back door and a new notch(刻痕) with his knife. I’ve grown a whole half-inch he’s been away. “Pa, are you home to stay now?” I ask him.
“Not yet, son. Got to till times get better. And they will. The sun will shine, rain will fall, and things will grow the way they’re supposed to.”
“I’ll Ma while you’re gone, Pa.”
“I know you will, son.”

My “ perfect holiday”
As a boy, like all other boys, I wanted to be a man. But my parents did everything for me.they managed every minute of my life. Although they loved me. I felt a bit unhappy with them “Zheng Chengyu, do your homework!” ”Practice the piano!” “___ the TV!” I became so bored with their orders that I wished they would leave me alone.
Well, my wish came true! Although my parents were very worried about leaving me, they had to__ __on business for a few days. Now was my chance! I could have some fun at last! As soon as I got home from school the first day, I happily threw my schoolbag on the sofa and ate lots of snacks. Then I enjoyed an exciting film TV , and after that I played computer games. I liked the games so much that I played until midnight.
The next morning I woke up late. I had to hurry to school without breakfast, but I was still late. The teacher asked me for my homework, but I could not hand it in. With an empty stomach, I was unable to play basketball with my classmate! I felt tired and at school all day long.
When I got home, I tried to cook some rice, but I it. I even dropped my father’s cup when I was cooking! I found myself so bad at simple cooking tasks. I started to feel . I wanted Mum and Dad to come home soon. Mum cooked such delicious food, and made sure I never forgot my homework. Dad always helped me with my difficult questions, and funny jokes when I was unhappy. Then I being home alone was not always perfect.
When y parents came home, they were happy to find I could cook and tidy up now. I told them my home alone story, and we all laughed.
