Later that day, I sat 54 the ornament in my hands. Was I really so important to this child that he had searched for something to give me? Now every year as I 55 pull a green Christmas ball from my ornament box, I remember the deep influence my students have on me.

I can still remember when I met my best friend. She had just moved into the neighborhood and her grandmother brought her down to 11 me.I hid behind my mother and she hid behind her grandmother, 12 to look at each other.Soon we lost the 13 and started playing with each other.
In the 7th grade,I first lost touch with her.She was 14 family problems and I deserted her to be with the "cooler people" because they knew she had been a 15 person.None of my new friends liked her as much as I did because they knew she had 16 .However, every summer we could always sit at each other’s house and watch soap operas, and talk about all the boys we liked.
It was last year when I noticed the problem.I guess I was too devoted in high school to 17 she needed someone there for her.Anyway, she made a new best friend and so did I.Then 1 didn’t know why,but she started cutting herself!
She then was diagnosed(诊断)with clinical(临床的)depression. At first,1 was very 18 ,but we still stayed in 19 .I wanted to be there for her since her new best friend basically 20 her and people were calling her 21 ,and I knew I still cared about her like a sister.
Yesterday she came to me and said:“I never knew what a best friend was until you were the only person that would stop me cutting.I 22 you so much, and you didn’t even know you were 23 me.”
We both cried. And I guess a kind of 24 from my life so far is never to give up on your friends.Even if they aren’t as cool as others,or people think they are crazy, they need someone there. If you desert them, you will only be 25 yourself. So if a friend needs you, and you care for them, you can never desert them.

My best friend is Cocoa, and I live in a senior-citizen apartment. Cocoa is a ten-year-old dog and I am a sixty-nine-year-old lady, so you can see we both qualify as 1 citizens.
He is a 2 companion. He does many amusing things that make me 3 , and when that happens, he is so delighted 4 he just keeps it up.
But one afternoon, Cocoa started acting strangely. I was sitting on the floor playing with him, 5 he started pawing and smelling at the right side of my 6 . He had never done anything like this ever before, and I told him, “No.” To Cocoa, one “no” is usually 7 , but not that day. He stopped briefly, and then 8 ran toward me, throwing his entire weight at the right side of my chest. He crashed into me and I cried in 9 , falling down to the floor. Soon after this, I felt a lump (肿块). I went to my doctors, and after X-rays 10 and lab work were done, they told me I had cancer.
When cancer starts, a 11 of calcium (钙) builds. Then the lump or cancer attaches itself to this wall. When Cocoa jumped on me, the force of the impact broke the lump away from the wall. This made it possible for me to 12 the lump.
I had a complete mastectomy (乳房切除术) and the cancer has not 13 to any other part of my body. The doctors told me if the cancer had gone undetected even six more months, it would have been too 14 .
Was Cocoa 15 of just what he was doing? I’ll never really know. What I do know is that Cocoa not only shares his life with me, he has also made sure that I will be around to share my life with him!
