Once，lately at night，an Englishman came out of his room into the passage of the hotel and ask the servant to bring her a glass of water.The servant did as he asked.The Englishman reentered his room，and a few minutes later he came into the passage again and once more asked the servant a glass of water.Every few minutes the Englishman would come out of his room and repeat his request.After a half hour the astonished servant decided to ask the man what he was doing with the water.“Nothing，” he answered calmly,“It’s simply that the room is on fire.”

One afternoon Jack is walking lonely down a river．It was very cold and on the river few boat could be seen. Without think about himself, Jack jumped into the river and to save the boy．He was about to drag the boy to the river bank when he saw some people stand in a motor boat under the bridge. One of them stared at Jack and said angry, “They are making a film and you’ve spoiled a whole afternoon’s work!”

I went to see the film after supper. On my way to the
cinema, I met an English woman, she lost her way.
I gave up the chance see the film and took her to her
hotel. While go there, I told her about great changes
that had been taken place in the past few years
and she had told me something about her country.
Although I missed the film, but I still felt very happy, for
I not only helped her out of trouble but practiced
my spoken English. If I had not worked hard on
English, I would not have been able to help him.
