When I was a teenager I volunteered to work at the water station at a 10,000m race. My job was to 36 water to the runners, I remember being so 37 to see all the different kinds of people who passed by and grabbed a cup of water. Some ran past, some walked past and a few wheeled past. I saw so many types of people doing it. I thought maybe I could do it too! So the next year I 38 up for the race.
That first 10,000m race was quite an 39 . I jogged, I walked, I jogged and I walked. 40 , I didn’t know if I could finish. Then came a defining(起决定性作用的) 41 .
At one point near the end, a 70-year-old man ran past me, very, very fast, and I felt 42 because I was 15 years old, younger than him but I couldn’t even keep up with him. I felt 43 for a second.
But then I 44 something. He was running his race and I was running mine. He had 45 abilities, experience, training and goals for himself. I had mine. Remember my 46 was only to finish.
After a minute, it 47 me that this was a lesson I could draw from. I learned something about myself at that moment. I turned my embarrassment into 48 .
I 49 that I would not give up running races. In fact, I would run even more races and I would learn how to train and prepare 50 and one day I would be one of those 70-year-old persons who were still running. As I crossed the finish line, I was proud of my 51 .
In life we all have those moments when we 52 ourselves with others. It’s only 53 . Don’t allow those moments to 54 you. Turn them into motivation and let them inspire you. With the proper preparation and training, you can improve your result to 55 anything you want in life.

"How was school, Ben?" I asked my after he began kindergarten(幼儿园) this year. "The work is too and there's not enough time to play." he replied with a deep .
I couldn't help but remember Ben's mother. my daughter, Jane, and her to the first day of school. When Julie home that afternoon. I asked her the same question . She also replied with a long, face but her answer was a little different as she announced . " I didn't learn to today."
What a disappointment for a little girl who thought she would know how to read her little books after the first day of school. I had to explain to her that she would learn to read but didn't happen quite that fast.
My went back to my school days again I could almost the chalk dust in the air. I suppose few schools still use chalk and blackboards. They have probably been with newer equipment and large computer screens
On the first day of school, the expectation was s0 that I would be up early in the morning and long before it was time to leave for school We . about 6 blocks to school new shoes that felt tight and carried our small supplies inside a cigar box from one of the local stores. The stores must have saved cigar boxes just to give to us children .We them from year to year until they fell apart.
The first day of school was a new beginning, although there might be on the first day. The doors of knowledge had been opened and we great learning adventures. It is an in our lives that most of us remember. It's a big step for a small child toward leaving babyhood and so "there isn't enough time to play".

Surfing: It's Not Just for Boys Anymore
If you asked high school girls to name their favorite sports, most would probably say basketball or volleyball. I happen to be one of the few girls who would : surfing. But isn't that a boy thing? Some people . Most certainly not.
I started surfing about five years ago and in love with the sport on the very first day. Riding that first was the best feeling I had ever experienced.
When I try to surfing with other things, I find it very difficult because, in my , there's nothing like it. It involves body, , and soul. There's sand between my toes and cool, salt water all us. The feeling I get when I'm surfing across that , becoming one with the , is like I'm weightless.
The one thing I can from surfing and not any other sport is endless challenge. You can never be the "best surfer" because the ocean an uncountable variety of waves that nobody can ever master. The variations of surfing styles are wonderful. Some surfers are free and flowing; others are very aggressive and . All of these things attract me to surfing and make it from any other sport.
I've to tell every girl I know to do something that people don't think girls can do. It's part of being human to advance to new , so shouldn't it be expected that girls should step up and start the limits of things boys and men used to dominate(主宰)?
There're women side by side with the President of our country, so why not side by side with the boys the football team or out in the water surfing? Give girls a chance to , and they will.

My mother and I started our morning by rushing into the local grocery store. I waited in line at the Starbucks counter while she around to pick up a few things.
As I was there I noticed an elderly woman, wearing layers (层) layers of old torn clothing, moving behind me in line.
She had a few toiletries(化妆品)and seemed to want the Starbucks cashier to since our queue was shorter than the grocery store queues were.
At some point I became of her moving closer behind me –it was than I was comfortable with! I instinctively (本能地) a hand over my purse and drew it closer to me. My fear and imagination raced creating wild about this homeless woman who might try to from me.
Then it was my to order. As the cashier rang up my total I discovered I was 37 cents . I called to my mother but she is hard of hearing. She asked me to what I said but she still couldn't me out.
At that point, a long grey arm, with in its sleeves, over from behind me. She laid 37 cents out on the counter, saying, "Here, We all need some sometimes."
I was ! Here was a woman who clearly had very little to and in great need herself. I had judged her and she had reached out, voluntarily, to help me!
What an amazing gift and lesson this woman gave me about others. Thank You, God!!

Each morning during fifteen- minute bath, I determined to cultivate a big, happy smile. I found out it had to be an honest-to-goodness smile from down deep , an outward expression of happiness from within!
Let’s see how the smile muscles me during the day. I would think of the things I had to be for, work up a big smile and then enter. It people when I passed them on the street to give them a smile. Give every living soul you meet the best smile you have smiled in your life, and see how much better you feel and look. It’s one of the best ways to worrying, and start living. When I began to do this, I found I became more welcome everywhere.

My good friend and neighbor is dying. She has more health problemsthrough the years than anyone should have to tolerate. Now as she approachesher 57th birthday she knows that it will be her last. She hasstarted a lot of her things. She has given all of us around her much more than just her things though. She has also given us her friendship, her kindness, and her joyful smile. She has given us hershining spirit that has made all of our lives so much . When a local dog was killed bya bear, my friend welcomed it into her home and nursed it back to .When any of us needed anything she was there doing all that she could witha full of love and a soul full of goodness.
She did all of this too while her health to grow worse and worse. My friend, , is not afraid of death. She has told me several timesthat she believes it will only be like a brief and then she willawaken in Paradise. I am as well that she will fit right in therebecause she already has a lot of paradise within herself. It is theparadise within her that she has so freely and beautifully given to us all.
We all have a bit of paradise within ourselves. She has shown me that the best way to enjoy that paradise is to it with everyone youmeet. I wish my friend only joy in her days here and endlesslove and life in her coming days in Paradise.
