On Thanksgiving Day, a teacher asked her class of firstgraders to draw a picture of something they were thankful for. She thought that these children from poor families actually had little to be thankful for. And she found most of them drawing pictures of flowers or tables with food. The teacher was very surprised to see the picture Douglas handed in. It's a hand,a simple hand.
But whose hand? The class were very interested in the strange picture. "I think it must be the hand of God that brings us food," said one child, "A farmer’s," said another, "Because he grows beautiful flowers. " Finally when the others were at work ,the teacher went over to Douglas' desk and asked whose hand it was. "It's your hand, Teacher," he said quietly and shyly.
She remembered that she had often taken Douglas, a dirty lonely child, by the hand while having a class break. She often did that with the children. But it meant so much to Douglas. Perhaps this is everyone's thanksgiving, not for the material things we get,but for the chance,in whatever small way, to give to others. When did the story happen?

A healthy body is necessary for a healthy mind. As is known, to have a sound(健全的)mind, we must first have a sound body. This is of vital importance. Only by keeping ourselves healthy and strong can we feel energetic and vigorous in studying and working and live a happy life.
To keep ourselves fit, physics exercise is the best way. In taking part in out-door sports, we are closer to nature and can take in fresh air. The beauty of nature will keep us clear-headed, which is essential to our health. Besides, sports stimulate the circulation of blood and help to excrete the wastes in the body. Sports can also work up our appetite and activate our digestion. As a result, we can become strong-bodied.
I always take an active part in physical exercise and enjoy good health. I seldom get sick but feel vigorous even if I work a whole day long. I shall keep up doing physical exercise so as(为了)to live longer and do more for the country.

Are Sports Important?
Sports are all around us. We watch and read sports news. There are also sports clubs,
and even sports-only channels(频道) on TV. In many countries, players make millions of dollars every year. But why are sports so important? They’re only games, right?
Our readers answer:
Vlad (Ukraine乌克兰)
Sports bring people together. In 2006, our team was able to play in the 2006 World Cup for the first time. Everyone was happy. Rich and poor, old and young, men and women—everyone was in the streets together!

Sports bring people together, but they divide them too. Fans of different teams fight all the Time
-they shout and hit each other. And here’s another example: My brother plays high school baseball.Last week, his team played an important game. At the game, two parents fought about a call .
Come on … baseball is only a game! Sports are so competitive (有竞争力的) these days. It’s all about winning. Then the game isn’t fun.
Oba (South Africa)
