Last January I was given a chance to work in another country. At first, I lived a 36 life, but soon I met a group of new friends and they were really nice.
Then something 37 happened. One of our friends suffered from kidney stones (肾结石), which had to be 38 surgically as soon as possible. But it was not as 39 as that! Our friend could not 40 the operation, which put him into deep 41 . I didn’t know how to help him because I didn’t have any money either. 42 , I never lost hope. Instead I tried to think of other 43 and told him not to worry because everything would be all right.
Before I left the hospital, I talked to the surgeon and asked him to do the surgery, saying I would pay the expenses the next day 44 I had that kind of money. Well, I must have been 45 because the surgeon agreed to do it! But how was I going to get that much money?
All I knew was that I needed to help my friend! Although it could be 46 to deal with this kind of situation, I decided to make some efforts. I tried to borrow money but failed. I tried 47 my things but no one wanted them. Then I had the idea of talking to my 48 . I asked him if I could have my next two months’ salary in advance—without even thinking on how I would 49 for two months with no money. He was surprised and asked me the reason. I told him that I had a friend who was really in need. 50 I convinced him too and then he gave my two months’ salary without any 51 !
Upon getting the money, I ran to the hospital and paid all the bills. My friend didn’t know how to thank me. I just said, “Come on! Give me a 52 !”
Friendship may not only be found at the happy moment but sometimes you can find it on the 53 time in your life! I’ve done a good thing by being a (an) 54 friend and I think it is well worth the 55 .

My brother and I were in Orlando Florida to witness our first Space Shuttle Launch. The Discovery was to soar at 10:14 AM on a blue sky September day. I’d seen it so many times on television, now I was only minutes away from seeing it launch. And it’s the final demonstration of the of success: Success Takes Off Like a Rocket.
Witnessing the Take Off:
Standing close to the Space Shuttle home one unforgettable point—the Shuttle is the height of a 15-story building—it 4.5 million pounds—and NASA is trying to lift it 200 miles off the ground. On TV the accomplishments look so much , so much easier.
Crowds of people are standing around with you to watch the Shuttle go. The countdown begins through the small of hundreds of portable radios all tuned to the NASA station. It’s enough to get your heart beating .
When time is up, the side booster rockets are lit up and the eight explosive bolts . The first things you see are large white clouds exploding away. Through the steam, you see the fire power. Then the Space Shuttle begins to inch off the pad and climb its way . Thousands upon millions of pounds of can hardly lift the shuttle at all. But with ever increasing ease, the shuttle picks up and roars into the sky, headed into space attaining a of over 17,000 mph.
It is within the first two minutes to launch the Space Shuttle that the great success lesson is . Fact: 85% of the shuttle’s fuel is consumed within the first 2 minutes just to get the 15-story super structure to its orbital .
And that’s exactly how success : The first steps you take towards launching a successful career are the and will require an enormous consumption of energy—a great big push. However, you persist through the launch period, which can seem almost for quite some time, everything gets easier and easier and your results get bigger and bigger.

I was at the post office early that morning, hoping to be in and out in a short while. Yet, I myself standing in a queue that went all the way into the hallway. I had never seen so many people there on a weekday. It seemed someone might have made an announcement, customers to carry as manypackages as they could. I also needed to have my own package . The queue moved very slowly. My patience and I got annoyed. The longer it took, the angrier I became. When I got to the counter finally, I finished my quickly and briefly, and then walked past the queue that was now extending past thefront door.
“Excuse me,” I said, trying not to be too pushy. Several people had to move to make room for me to get to the .
I stepped out, about theservice conditions. Thinking I was going to be late for my dentist appointment, I into the parking lot.
A woman was coming across the lot in my . She was walking with determination, and each step sounded very . Inoticed that she looked as if she could breathe fire. It stoppedme in my tracks. Had I looked like that? Her body languagesaid that she was having a day. My anger melted away. I wished I could wrap her in a but I was astranger. So I did what I could in a minute she hurried past me-I smiled. Ina second everything changed. She was astonished, then somewhat . Then her facesoftened and her shoulders . I saw her take a deep breath. Her pace slowed and shesmiled back at me as we passed each other.
I continued to smile all the way to my car. Wow, it’s amazing a simple smile can do.
From then on, I became aware of people’s and my own, the way we show our feelings. Now I use that every day to let it me that when facing the world, I can try a smile.
