Seventeen-year-old Rivertown teenager, John Janson, was honoured at the Lifesaver Awards last night for carrying out lifesaving first aid on his neighbour after a shocking knife  36  .
John was presented with his award at a ceremony which recognized the  37  of the ten people who have saved the life of others.
John had been studying in his room when he heard  38  . When he and his father rushed outside, they    39    that Anne Slade, mother of three, had been stabbed(刺)   40    with a knife by her ex-boyfriend(前男友). The man ran from the  41   and left Ms Slade lying in her front garden   42    very heavily. Her hands had almost been cut off.
It was John’s quick   43    and knowledge of first aid that saved Ms Slade’s life. He immediately asked a number of the    44    people for bandages(绷带), but when nobody could put their hands on anything, his father got some tea towels(毛巾)and    45    from their house. John used these to dress the most severe   46    to Ms Slade’s hands. He slowed the bleeding by applying pressure to the wounds until the   47  and ambulance arrived.
“I’m    48    of what I did but I was just doing what I had been    49   ,” John said.
John had taken part in the Young Lifesaver Scheme at his high school. When   50   John, Mr Alan Southerton, Director of the Young Lifesaver Scheme, said, “   51  is no doubt that John’s quick thinking and the first aid  52  that he had learned at school saved Ms Slade’s life. It shows that a simple knowledge of the first aid can make a real  53   .”
John and the nine other lifesavers also attended a   54    reception yesterday hosted by the Prime Minister before    55    their awards last night.

The Johnson family from England believe they are lucky to be alive after surviving an incredible incident off the coast of Australia. The Johnsons had been that they might see some whales when they were _ a yacht (帆船)— a large expensive boat for a 10-day sailing around the Whitsunday Islands. , they had no clue just how their viewing would be. Two hours into their journey a nine-meter-long humpback whale out of the ocean and crashed into their boat before returning to the water.
Mark Johnson, the eldest son,was sailing the yacht when he heard an immense bang and a thud(重击声).He thought the yacht had hit a rock. However, when he looked up, he saw the whale down the deck of the boat. He told the reporters, “ We were staring into its right eye. It was a very _ moment. The eye was about the of a dinner plate. It was huge.”
for the Johnson family, no one was hurt, but the yacht suffered damage. The whale had ruined the mast and rigging — the pole and ropes which hold the ——and so the family was left at sea, 10 miles from the shore. The equipment was also damaged, but fortunately they had a cell phone and were able to call for help.
Why the whale jumped onto the yacht is a ,but the family thinks that maybe the boat had not sailed between the whale and its baby calf. Perhaps the whale was trying to its calf when it jumped, hit the yacht by chance.
Whatever the reason, people are completely that this incident happened. There is over 135 million square miles of ocean , so what are the of a whale jumping onto a 30-foot-long yacht? The chance of something like this happening is miniscale, but it just shows that life is full of surprises.

A friend of mine met with an accident driving in darkness. His legs were so hurt that he couldn’t move. What was the was he found himself unable to ask for help — his mobile phone went out of as a result of exhausted battery. Nothing could be done but to in cold wilderness. It was 8 hours later that day broke, and then the of the rescue.
It is almost that he could stand the horror in the darkness for so long. Even more surprising was his : "First of all I checked up my conditions and found myself not in mortal (致命的)danger. As there was no way to call for help, I leaned back in my seat trying my best to keep the wound from . In this way I dozed (打盹)off ."
His story put an end to my regret for the of an exploration adventure that happened last year. A group of young men to explore a mountain cave and got lost. to find a way out in the dark cave they were frightened and ran anxiously without a sense of .Finally they fell dead in fear and exhaustion. According to the people that found them, the place where they got lost was only about 10 meters away from the of the cave. If they stayed on the spot when they lost their way and tried to themselves, they would probably sense a faint light glimmering (闪烁)not far away .
Don’t you think that you can compare it with itself? When you meet with obstacles (障碍)in life and work, you are lost in darkness. you it’s unclear yet and you needn’t put up struggle . It seems to be a negative attitude, a person who can afford to do so must have foresight as well as a great in the first place.

Mark Twain said that “habit is habit, and not to be flung(扔) out the window by anyone, but coaxed (劝诱)downstairs a step at a time.” The chances of successfully changing negative behavior when you make gradual changes that give you time to negative patterns for positive ones.
On any given day, countless numbers of us get out of bed and to begin to change a given behavior “today.” Whether it be exercising more, drinking less, managing time or some other change in a negative behavior, we start out with high . In a short time, however, a vast majority of people fail and are soon doing it was they thought they shouldn't be doing.
After considerable research, some researchers believe that behavior changes usually do not if they start with the change itself. , they believe that we must a series of “stages” to adequately prepare ourselves for that change. Once you have analyzed all the factors that what you do, you must decide which behavior-change technique will work best for you.
According to the psychologist Albert Ellis, most problems and related behaviors arise from irrational (不理性的) statements that people make to when events in their lives are different from what they would like them to be. For example, suppose alter doing on an exam, you say to yourself, “I can't believe I failed that easy exam, I’m so stupid.” By changing this irrational “catastrophic” self-talk into rational, statements about what is really going on, you can increase the that positive behaviors will occur.
Positive self-talk might be as follows: “I really didn’t study enough for the exam. I just need to prepare for the next .”
Such self-talk will help you to recover quickly from and take positive steps to correct the situation. Some other technique like purposefully or stopping negative thoughts and refusing to dwell on(沉湎于) negative images can also spare you wasted energy, time and emotional resources and move on to positive changes.
