It was a cold winter's night. It was getting late and l was tired so I went to bed.
At about two in the morning my phone began to ring. It was from Mum. I started to feel frightened, because she only if something was wrong.1 lived in the same flat as Mum, I rushed down to see what was wrong.
The door would not open. Everything was running through my mind including Mum could be dying and I could not get into her flat. I went around to her bedroom window and could see Mum on the floor. She had heard me and to unlock the door painfully.
Then I entered the flat and what I saw was terrible. I could see Mum's leg was badly broken and it was completely the wrong way. I rang the ambulance(救护车) and while we were waiting I tried to make Mum comfortable.
The ambulance finally arrived and I it. It was a cold freezing night. The roads were empty and . It seemed that everything was going in a slow way.
We arrived at the hospital and rushed into A&E. The doctor told me that Mum would need an the next day. After Mum fell asleep, I went home to get some sleep.
When I rang the hospital the next morning, Mum had gone to the operating room. Everything was racing through my head. Is she OK? Will she be safe? Would she it through the operation? Finally that day she was fine. My mum is a very lady and I am so proud of her.
From this I have learned that you should never take family for granted(想当然), everyday every moment you have with them because in my mind family is the most important thing you will ever be a part of, so never, ever forget what you have.

Dogs are people's friends. They will do anything their owners ask them to do and they do their duty very well.
Curly is my black dog. He is big and strong. He is strong enough to carry me on his . He likes running and playing with me. He likes to .my father around in the fields, too.
One day my father took off his coat, put it on the ground a big tree and said to Curly, “ my coat.”
Curly sat down on the coat. Then my father remembered he had to dinner for the family. he went home and forgot all about his coat and dog
Late in the evening I my dog and looked for him everywhere in the yard. I called, "Curly, Curly!" But Curly did not answer.
Soon my father wanted something in his coat pocket(口袋). Suddenly he remembered he had done. Quickly he went back to the big tree. What do you think he saw? Curly was sitting on the coat! He was afraid someone would take it .

Although I love my life, it hasn’t been a lot of fun as I’ve been ill for 28 years.
Music has always been a great love of mine and, in my 20s, when my was more manageable , I ten years as a professional singer in restaurants, playing and singing folk songs. it was years ago and times have changed. I live with mother on a country farm.
Two years ago, I decided that I would need to have some kind of extra work to make up for my disability pension (残疾抚恤金). I needed to sleep in the afternoons, I was limited(限制) in my choices. I decided that I would consider to singing in restaurants.
My family are all musicians, so I was when I went into our local music store. I explained that I wanted to sing again but using recorded karaoke music. I knew that discs were very expensive and I really didn’t have a lot of to get started. And often you find only three to four songs out of ten on a disc that you can use.
When I told the owner of the shop about my , he gave me a long thoughtful . “This means a lot to you, doesn’t it?” he said. “Come with me.”
He led me the crowded shop and to a bench with a large professional karaoke box on it. He placed his large hand on his treasure(财宝) and said, “I have 800 karaoke songs in here. You can take your pick and I’ll record them for you. That should get you started.”
I could have cried. Thanking him, I made a time with him to listen to all the songs and choose that I could sing. I have come full circle with his help.
His still warms my heart and makes me do just that bit extra, when I have the chance.

It was unusually quiet in the emergency room on December 25.
I was the nurse on duty that day. I didn't think there would be any patients. Just then five bodies at my desk, a pale woman and four small children.
“Are you all sick?” I asked.
“Yes,” she said , lowering her head.
But when they described their problems, things got a little strange. Two of the children had headaches, but they didn’t show any of headaches at all. Two children had earaches, but only one could tell me which ear was affected. The mother of a cough but seemed to work to produce it.
I didn't say anything, I explained that they might wait for a little while before a doctor saw her. She answered, “Take your time; it's warm here.”
I checked the chart after another nurse had finished registering(登记) the family. No —they were homeless. The waiting room was warm.
I looked at the family by the Christmas tree. The littlest one was pointing at the television and saying something to her mother. The oldest one was looking at lights on the Christmas tree.
I went back to the nurses' station and mentioned we had a homeless family in the waiting room. The nurses who felt bored with Christmas, turned to compassion((怜悯) for the family just trying to get warm on Christmas. The team went into action. We began to prepare a party for our Christmas . We needed presents. We put together oranges and apples in a basket. We collected from different departments candies, crayons and other things available that could be presents.
, as the family walked to the door to leave, the four-year-old child came running back, gave me a hug and , “Thanks for being our angels today.”

When I was a teenager growing up in France, I wanted to leave school and have my own life. The only way I could this was to work in the local paper factory in my town, or get married. I was very nervous when I told my I wanted to leave school. I thought he would say, “ You are going to college.” I was very when he said, “OK. Let’s go to the paper factory.”
Two days later, took me to the factory. I imagined everyone to be friends, together and having fun. I even imagined there would be music and singing. I I had watched too many movies as a teenager.
When we the factory gate, my father spoke to the guard(门卫) and one minute later we were . I walked around the factory looking at the building, the workers, and listening to the noise. It was . I ran back to my father and said, “I want to go home.”
He asked me, “What do you think of the ?”
“Too bad,” I answered.
“And marriage is even !” he said.
I went back to school the next day thinking about studying hard I could get into a good college. I studying English so I decided to major in(主修) languages at college. Thanks to my father and our to the paper factory, I now work at the United Nations and my father is very proud of me. I married a very good man and my life is much better than it would have been working in the factory!
