I consider myself something of an expert on apologies. A quick temper has me with plenty of opportunities to make them. In one of my earliest , my mother is telling me, “Don’t watch the when you say ‘I’m sorry’. Hold your head up and look the person in the , so he’ll know you it.”
My mother thus made the key point of a(n) apology: it must be direct. You must never to be doing something else. One of the important things you should do for an apology is readiness to the responsibility(责任) for our careless mistakes. We are used to making excuses, which leaves no for the other person to us. Since most people are open-hearted, the no-excuse apology leaves both parties feeling about themselves. That, after all, is the of every apology. One night, when I was eight, my mother gently asked me a question I would never forget. “Sweetie, my company wants to me but needs me to work in Brazil. This is like your teacher telling that you’ve done and allowing you to skip a grade, but you’ll have to your friends. Would you say yes to your teacher?” She gave me a hug and asked me to think about it. I was puzzled. The question kept me for the rest of the night. I had said “yes” but for the first time, I realized the decisions adults had to make.
For almost four years, my mother would call us from Brazil every day. Every evening I’d wait for the phone to ring and then tell her every detail of my day. A phone call, however, could never replace her and it was difficult not to feel lonely at times.
During my fourth-grade Christmas break, we flew to Rio to visit her. Looking at her large apartment, I became how lonely my mother must have been in Brazil herself. It was then I started to appreciate the tough choices she had to make on family and work. difficult decisions, she used to tell me, you wouldn’t know whether you made the right choice, but you could always make the best out of the situation, with passion and a attitude.
Back home , I myself that what my mother could do, I could, too. If she to live in Rio all by herself, I, too, could learn to be . I learn how to take care of myself and set high but achievable .
My mother is now back with us. But I will never forget what the has really taught me. Sacrifices in the end. The separation between us has proved to be for me.

When I was a little boy, I would play outside for hours on sunny summer days and then have a deep and peaceful sleep at night. Sometimes, I’d have some vivid dreams, making me for a moment. I would stare out into the darkness to see if anything was there and then over and go back to sleep. I can still remember a few times when I woke up, out into the darkness, and actually someone there. It was Mom over me as I slept. Each time she told me to go back to sleep and I closed my eyes again, feeling and loved.
I asked Mom why she watched me sleep from time to time, but seeing my own children so fast, I think I know why. She wanted to catch a moment in time and it in her heart forever. I just that she carried a lot of those moments with her into Heaven when she at only 55.
Last night I was sleeping lightly I suddenly felt someone near me. I opened my eyes and saw Mom’s standing in the room, smiling at me. And then she was gone.
Now may say that this was just a dream, a wish or part of an old . To me, though, it was that Mom’s loving spirit was still watching over me. To me, it was evidence enough to know that one day I would be with her and everyone I have ever loved.
Trust in their love. Know that your own life can be full of , too. Then joyfully go out and live it with a brave heart and a smiling soul.
