It’s great pleasure for me to make a speech here. With a new term come , we are happy to be back at school and hope to see our school taken on a new look. To keep our school beautiful , we should avoid such behavior as spitting, littering, and scribbling in public places. Occasionally, some of us may talk loudly, quarreling with others or even do dangerous things, all of them can harm to the harmonious atmosphere of our school.
As we know, civilized behavior is great importance. It not only shows our good qualities but also make us live and study happily at school, so we should obey the school rules and behave good. Only by doing so we live a more comfortable life on campus.

Recently a survey has been done find out the reading interests of senior middle school students. With this survey, two thousands senior middle school students from ten schools in Lanzhou were interviewed. They were asking which they liked reading most among the four categories of English articles: news, stories, popular science articles and articles about learning methods.
The survey show that more than a half of the students like to read news most. Twenty-six percent of the students say that English stories are his favorite. Only seven percent of the students are mostly interested in reading articles about learning methods. However, the number of students who enjoy read popular science articles doubles that of those which prefer reading articles about learning methods.

Jane and Ray had been at home the most of their lives. But after their children grew up
and out of home, they decided to go on a trip around the world. It was sure that they had no
experience in travelling and they had great trouble accepted the customs of the people in the
countries where they would visit. To make them feel much comfortable and happier during

The day before yesterday, I went to the bookstore which is near our school to buy the reference book. It was Saturday, so there was many people. Under the help of the shop assistants, I quickly got the book I badly needed. I was about to leave while I found someone trying to steal a man's money. Although I was nervous, but I tried to think of a way to help. Suddenly, a good idea occurred me. I stepped on the man's foot deliberate. As expected, the man's scream gives the thief a fright, who quickly walked out of the shop. After hear my explanation, the man smiled and showed great gratitude to her.

When I was 12 years old, I went for my father to his workplace—a car showroom. I was wandering around when I see a poor woman with a child on her lap sit outside the showroom. When I saw that she was crying, I went outside and told my father. He went out, offered her some water and then asked her how was wrong. The woman said that her husband had been died some months before and that she didn’t have anyone else in her family could help her. Her children had been sick for the past three days so she was unable to go to work. Now she didn’t have a grain of food to eat. My father and I were deep shocked by her story. Then he took them to a nearest hospital for her child to be treated.
