When we read books we seem to enter a new world. This new world can be similar to the one we are living in, or it can be very21. Some stories are told22 they were true. Real people who live in a 23 world do real things; in other words, the stories are about people just like us doing what we do. Other stories, such as the Harry Potter books, are not24. They are characters and creatures that are very different from us and do things that would be25for us.
But there is more to books and writing than this. If we think about it, even realistic writing is only26. How can we tell the difference between what is real and what is not real? For example, when we read about Harry Potter ,we27 seem to learn something about the real world. And when Harry studies magic at Hogwarts, he also learns more about his real life than28. Reading, like writing, is an action. It is a way of29. When we read or write something ,we do much more than simple look at words on a page. We use our30 --which is real—and our imagination—which is real in a different way --- to make the words come to life in our minds.
Both realism and fantasy(幻想)31the imagination and the “magic” of reading and writing to make us think. When we read32realistic, we have to imagine that the people we are reading about are just like us, even though we33that we are real and they are34 . It sounds35,but it works. When we read, we fill in missing information and36 about the causes and effects of what a character does. We help the writer by37that what we read is like real life. In a way, we are writing the book, too.
Most of us probably don’t think about what is going on in our38 when we are reading. We pick up a book and lose39 in a good story, eager to find out what will happen next. Knowing how we feel40we read can help us become better readers, and it will help us discover more about the real magic of books.

As a young boy my family was very poor. I would often help do something for the neighbors to 36 a little pocket money.
One day I 37 on the door of an elderly woman and asked 38 she needed me to clean the yard. She asked why I was not in 39 and I showed her my worn 40 , which no longer kept me warm. She 41 me to work in the yard. When I finished, she looked at me and said, “I suppose you want to be 42 now.” She then 43 a jar filled with dollar bills and said, “I’m glad you’ve done a 44 job today but that is not something you should be doing again. I want you to 45 new clothes and get back to school. I also want you to come back to 46 me with your report card and I will 47 you when I see you have worked hard and have some good 48 . Now reach out your little hands and take out as much 49 as you can.”
I put my hands in the jar and 50 so much money that it was 51 for me to buy what I badly needed. Later, I returned several times to see the woman and she did just as she 52 . She looked at my report card and gave me a handful of dollars and some delicious food every time I 53 her that I had an “A”.
I was twelve years old when I moved from that neighborhood. I will never forget the huge 54 this wonderful lady made over my life with her 55 . This is something I hope to do myself in this lifetime over and over again.

When we talk about a bad man, we like to call him a “wolf”. But is it really true that the wolf stands for devil and ugliness?
Have you read the book “The Wolf Totem” by a famous writer Jiang Rong, which tells the story of the relationship between wolves and human beings? Have you ever 41 the wolves' world? If you had, you would 42 the wolves. In the book, wolves are heroes on the large grassland. They know more about 43 than humans. They can attack lambs without disturbing their mothers. They also know how to 44 full use of the shape of land to 45 sheep. I believe that if wolves were humans, they would be 46 experts good at fighting.
The wolf is a kind of special creature that can deeply understand 47 .Each wolf serves its group with its heart and soul. A 48 wolf has little power, but a pack of wolves 49 nothing. All the wolves obey the rules. 50 they are defeated, they run away together. It is their teamwork 51 makes wolves powerful.
The wolves also have great self respect and won't 52 to anyone. The writer, who wrote the book “The Wolf Totem”, 53 stole a one-month-old baby wolf and raised it very carefully. To his 54 , he found the little wolf still wanted to go back with 55 wolves. He bit through the iron chain that limited him. The wolf was 56 and he never gave in, fighting 57 his death. The little wolf died as a glorious fighter.
I was shocked by this kind of 58 wolves are one of the most respected creatures on the earth. I want everyone to look at wolves in a 59 way. They are our teachers. They show us how to survive and 60 in this not simple but dangerous world. Please honor the wolves, please honor all these heroes of nature!
