Stephen was a student at Oxford University. He studied math and science. Then, at the age of twenty, he became sick. He was so young, but the doctors said to his family, “He has only two more years to live.” As a matter of fact, the doctors were wrong---- he didn’t die. He can’t walk now but he uses a wheelchair(轮椅). He can’t feed himself and get in or out of bed himself. But he refused to give in to the condition. He talks with the help of a computer. After Oxford, Stephen went to Cambridge University. Three years later, in 1965, he became a doctor of philosophy(哲学).
Because of his serious health problems, it was difficult for him to draw diagrams(图表) or to write. So he started to think in pictures. With this new way of thinking, he became one of the most famous scientists in the world. In 1891, he met the Pope(教皇) in Rome. They talked about his ideas. Then in 1988, he wrote his first important book, A Brief History of Time. It sold more than 5.5 million copies in 33 different languages. Nowadays, more and more schools in China make rules making students wear school uniforms to school. Parents and teachers think it will make a better learning environment at school, but some students don’t like their school uniforms. So, what are school uniforms like in other parts of the world?
In Japan, boys in middle school wear uniforms called “gakuran” which have dark jackets with stand-up collars and pants. Girls, on the other hand, wear uniforms called “sailor fuku”, which look like European naval(海军) uniforms.
Most schools in England require students to wear school uniforms. Boys need to wear long grey or black pants, white shirts and school ties. Girls have the same clothes as boys, but they can wear skirts or summer school dresses during the summer term.
In the UK, uniforms were the custom throughout most of the 20th Century, but now more and more public schools stop requiring students to wear uniforms. They think uniforms make students lose their personalities(个性).
For children in many African countries, school uniforms can be a kind of pride, or a huge financial burden(经济负担). Many children have only one uniform, and that may be all the clothes they have.
In a word, love it or hate it, school uniform is a part of growing up for children around the world so you’d better enjoy your school uniform and your school life.

What is color? Why do some of the things around us look red, some green, others blue?
Colors are really made by reflected(反射) light. We can see colors because most of the things reflect light. Something is red, for it reflects most of the red light. In the same way, if something is green, it reflects most of the green light. If something reflects all light, it is white. If it doesn’t reflect any light, it is black.
Some light is reflected. But the other light is taken in and turns into heat. The darker the color is, the less light is reflected, and the more light is taken in. For this reason, dark-colored clothes are warmer in the sun than light-colored clothes.Colors are made by reflected light
Something looks white because it reflects all kinds of light.
In the dark we can’t see anything because all the things don’t reflect any light
When the other light is taken in, it will be reflected in the end.
In the sun, the warmest clothes must be light-colored.
