Many people like to travel by , but the Greens think that travelling by train is the best. It is much and far more enjoyable than a rushed journey by air. They had a wonderful train ride to Chengdu they went on to Mount Emei by bus.
The train was quite nice and tidy, and there weren't too many people in sleeping car. The Greens could stand up and around. It was a long journey, none of them felt tired. They kept the beautiful things out of the window. They talked, laughed and played cards. The conductor kept coming to give them hot water and them newspapers. People nearby with each other. A young man tried to speak English with Mr and Mrs Green. Jim thought the train was like a big moving party. He went to sleep quite . He enjoyed listening to the sound of the running train and then fell asleep.
When Jim woke up the next morning, the train was already Chengdu. His train ride seemed really , but his memory (记忆) of the pleasant journey will last long.

“Never give up!” It is my law(法则) of life. It has brought me . I learned the law from my father's story.
My father was in a poor village in the north of Jiangsu, in China. When he was a young boy, he went to school in the morning, then in the fields till sunset. And then he did his homework midnight. Life was hard, because they had no !
At the age of 14, my father heard of the United States of America. It was the land of gold, the land where people can become rich.
“ don't I go to America?” he thought to himself, full of hope.
So,my father came to America. “I had thought it was easy to money in America,” he told me. “But when I arrived there,I realized it was not true. They did not like to hire(雇佣) me because I spoke English. Later,I worked in a small restaurant, cleaning up tables, dishes and sweeping the floor. Life was for the first few years. I worked from 10 a. m. to 11 p. m. I wanted to go to school to learn English, but it was impossible. I couldn't the schooling(学费).”
My father working hard, and reached his goal.
“Alan,” he often says to me. “If you want something, you have to work for it and never give up. Things do not come in life.” That is what I learned from my father.

As a teenager, I am often asked what I am going to be in the future. A lawyer ? A doctor ? Or a scientist ? No, my ideal career is to be a teacher. One of the for that is I want to be a teacher like Mr. Chen.
“Look! Do you know what it is? A-ha, it’s the ! And it will always move around the sun.” Mr. Chen said and pointed to his head. He then touched the nose and , “Can you tell me the name of this mountain? It is the highest mountain on Earth! What’s the of it? Yes, it’s 8844.43 metres…” I’ll never forget my first geography lesson. He was humorous that we all fell in love with his lessons . It’s Mr. Chen who opened the door of geography for us.
Generally speaking, most of the teachers are strict students and sometimes a little bit demanding(苛求的), not so with Mr. Chen. He is a lighthouse, showing us the way to the treasure of knowledge. He is a friend and easy to get with, always encouraging us to speak out loud without our shyness and other disadvantages. He is an example, volunteering his time to students and other teachers.
One day I happened to meet him in the hospital. Seeing the cut on his arm, I realized he was donating his . I was moved and was another lesson, a lesson of love and devotion.
Every time I see my globe(地球仪), it would me of Mr. Chen. He is the most unforgettable teacher I have met and he will always be. Someday I hope I am to be a teacher like him.
Thank you, Mr Chen, thank you for making learning not a job but a joy.
Thank you for helping me to discover what I do best and to do it even .
Thank you for understanding all of us and giving us the time and care each of us needs.

A professor(教授)told his students into the city slums (贫民窟) to study the life of 200 boys. He asked them to reports about each boy’s life and future. One of the students wrote,“They don’t have any .”

Once there lived in our town a poor family. They were so that there was almost nothing in the house but a pot under a broken table. In it there was a little rice from their neighbor for the coming New Year. On New Year's Eve, the wife had already fallen asleep, but the husband was in bed, worrying about their life. Suddenly he heard someone breaking into the house. "It must be a ," he thought, " but it doesn't matter. The thief can steal nothing. " He didn't shout or move, but he kept watching over the thief.
The thief came into the house and was only interested in the rice under the table. "But can I take it away?" the thief thought hard. Then he had an idea. He took off his coat, put it on the ground between the bed and the table and turned to take the pot.
Now the husband knew what the thief would do. He up the coat quickly and covered himself with it the thief turned back.
The thief took the pot, and poured the rice onto the coat. Then he began to feel it. But he was to find that his coat was gone. " Hey! " he shouted out. The voice woke up the wife. She asked her husband, " Did you hear any sound? Maybe there is a thief in the room. "
"Shut up! " replied her husband. "Go back to sleep. There is no thief in the room. "
"That's impossible," the thief said . "If there isn't a thief, then, where is my coat?"
