A group of graduates have highly been established in their careers. One day they got together to their old university professor. Shortly they arrived, their conversation turned into complaints about in work and life. In order to his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned a large pot of coffee and a variety of cups made of porcelain(陶瓷的), plastic, glass or crystal. Some of
are plain looking, some expensive, and some are exquisite(做工精致的). The told them to help themselves to the coffee.
When the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said:
If you noticed, all the nice looking cups were taken up, behind the plain and cheap ones. it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the of your problems and stress.
all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, you consciously went for the best cups and were seeing each other’s .
Now consider this: is the coffee and the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are tools to hold and contain life, and do not change the of life. Sometimes, by concen- trating only on the cup, we to enjoy the coffee God has provided. So, don’t let the cups drive you. . . the coffee instead.

One morning I wasted nearly an hour watching a tiny ant carry a huge feather.Several times, it 36 obstacles(障碍物in its path. And after a pause it made the necessary detour. At one point, the ant had to 37a crack(裂缝) about 10 mm wide. After some brief thoughts, the ant laid the 38 over the crack, walked across it and 39 up the feather on the other side, then continued on its way.I was 40 by the cleverness of this ant.It was only a small insect, lacking in 41 yet equipped with a brain to reason, explore, discover and overcome. 42 this ant, like the other two-legged creatures 43 on the earth, also shares human feelings.
After some time the ant finally reached its 44 – a flower bed and a small hole that was the entrance to its 45 home.It was there that the ant met its 46 . When we read books we seem to enter a new world. This new world can be similar to the one we are living in, or it can be very21. Some stories are told22 they were true. Real people who live in a 23 world do real things; in other words, the stories are about people just like us doing what we do. Other stories, such as the Harry Potter books, are not24. They are characters and creatures that are very different from us and do things that would be25for us.
But there is more to books and writing than this. If we think about it, even realistic writing is only26. How can we tell the difference between what is real and what is not real? For example, when we read about Harry Potter ,we27 seem to learn something about the real world. And when Harry studies magic at Hogwarts, he also learns more about his real life than28. Reading, like writing, is an action. It is a way of29. When we read or write something ,we do much more than simple look at words on a page. We use our30 --which is real—and our imagination—which is real in a different way --- to make the words come to life in our minds.
Both realism and fantasy(幻想)31the imagination and the “magic” of reading and writing to make us think. When we read32realistic, we have to imagine that the people we are reading about are just like us, even though we33that we are real and they are34 . It sounds35,but it works. When we read, we fill in missing information and36 about the causes and effects of what a character does. We help the writer by37that what we read is like real life. In a way, we are writing the book, too.
Most of us probably don’t think about what is going on in our38 when we are reading. We pick up a book and lose39 in a good story, eager to find out what will happen next. Knowing how we feel40we read can help us become better readers, and it will help us discover more about the real magic of books.
