Every school has an ugly girl. In my primary school, it was me.
From first grade through fourth, I had to wear heavy orthopedic(整形外科的)shoes because of my weak ankles. I sounded like overweight elephant wearing bricks whenever I took a single step.
“Hey, Bigfoot!”
“Geez, you’re going to start an earthquake!”
Then in sixth grade I had to start wear glasses. Mom asked for the least expensive ones and that made me look like a fool.
“Four eyes!”
“Couldn’t you cover up more of your faces? Why stop at the eyes?”
In Seventh, I started competing on the city swim team, thinking that if I got a killer body, nobody would notice my face. Wrong again. I loved being fast and winning ribbons now and then, but now I had red, wet eyes from the chlorine(氯) in the pool. I also did not develop a killer body.
I changed my strategy at Eighth grade, the last year of middle school. I offered my help to anyone who needs. I worked for other girls, so they could hang out with their friends. My new program began to work. People who would never have acknowledged my existence before were suddenly seeking me out.
I’d been feeling pretty good until one day I went to Christine’s house to help her fill envelopes. Going into each envelope was invitation to Christine’s birthday party; it was a big event at a fancy hotel. Complete with dinner. She asked me to help her address these envelopes. There was no envelope for me.
My heart was broken. I tried to escape from all the eyes. High school had to be better, right? Yes and no. Now that I’m here, I know there are still lots of shallow people judging you on what you’re wearing or how cool your hair is , but there are also kids who talk to you because they liked your answers or just as you’re kind, honest, and a good friend.
I still do kind things because I like the feeling I get when I am helping people. I, with my friends, went to Children’s hospital, playing games and reading to the sick kids.
I still had wet red and not a smart look, but you cannot tell me I am not beautiful. Every time I visit hospital, five-year-old Terry grasps my hand, “Morri, you are so nice. I want to grow up to be just like you.”Why was Morri laughed at by her classmates when she was in primary school?

When someone has deeply hurt you,it can be extremely difficult to let go of your anger. But forgiveness is possible—and it can be surprisingly helpful to your physical and mental health.Indeed, research has shown that people who forgive report more energy, better appetite(胃口)and better sleep patterns.“People who forgive show less anger and more hopefulness,”says Dr.Frederic Luskin, who wrote the book Forgive for Good.“So it can help save on the wear and tear on our system and allow people to feel more energetic.”
So when someone has hurt you, calm yourself first.Take a couple of breaths and think of something that gives you pleasure:a beautiful scene in nature, someone you love.Don’t wait for an apology.“Many times the person who hurt you may never think of apologizing,”says Dr.Luskin.“They may have wanted to hurt you or they just don’t see things the same way.So if you wait for people to apologize, you could be waiting a very long time.”Keep in mind that forgiveness does not necessarily mean accepting the action of the person who upset you.Mentally going over your hurt gives power to the person who brought you pain.Instead, learn to look for the love, beauty and kindness around you. Finally, try to see things from the other person’s perspective(视角).You may realize that he or she was acting out of ignorance(无知),fear—even love.To gain perspective, you may want to write a letter to yourself from that person’s

London—Lazy students can now give up on work altogether as two Oxford University students have made scores of A-grade essays(论文)on the website for students to copy.
The essays are on the new website,“revise.it.”
The website includes an “Essay Lab”designed to make cheating(舞弊)as effective and effortless as possible.
Its homepage announces to surfers(网上冲浪者):“The revise.it Essay Lab is a bank of hundreds of A-Level essays covering popular topics.”
“Next time you are asked to write an essay, why not see what we have on the subject—if you are in a lazy state of mind you can even use our guide to writing the essays and then just hand them in.”
Nick Rose and Jordan Mayo, both 19 and first from Manchester, spent much of their first year as students at the university setting up the website. There is no charge for downloading the essays.
“I have never been very good at essay writing,”Rose admitted.“We don’t see essay bank as a cheating way. It’s a surprising valuable resource. You can learn a lot by reading other people’s work on the subject.”
Among other tips, the website suggests inventing important speeches to give essays extra weight:“Popular people to quote(引用)are Douglass Hurd or Disraeli.”
Hurd was a foreign secretary in the 1980s and Disraeli was a 19th century prime minister.
Teachers are expressing their opinions by e-mail that they are angry about the website that “encourages students to cheat”,but students disagree.

Museums have changed. They are no longer places that one “should”go but to enjoy.
At a science museum in Canada, you can feel your hair stand on end as harmless electricity passes through your body.At the Children’s Museum in New York, you can play an African drum. There are no “Do Not Touch”sign in some other museums in the USA.
More and more museum directors have realized that people learn beat when they can become part of what they are seeing. In many science museums, the visitors are encouraged to touch, listen, operate and experiment so as to discover scientific rules for themselves.
The purpose is not only to provide fun,but also help people feel at home in the world of science. If people don’t understand science, they will be afraid of it;and if they are afraid of science, they will not make the best use of it.
One cause of all these changes is the increase in wealth and spare time.Another cause is the growing number of young people in the population. Many of them are college students or college graduates. They see things in a new and different way. They want art that they can take part in.The same is true of science and history.
The old museums have been changing and the government is encouraging the building of new, modern museums. In the States and Canada, there are more than 6 000 museums, almost twice as many as there were 25 years ago.
