Dear Dr Jackson,
My parents are never happy with me. They are always criticizing (批评) my clothes, my hair and the music I listen to. They hate my friends' looks and they keep complaining when I go with them. I'm not allowed to stay out as late as my friends do, so I can't have any fun, My parents only seem to care about my school marks. Although I love them, sometimes I feel we live in different worlds. If they love me, can't they understand me? How can I make them understand me?
Dear Angel,
Your problem is common (共同的) to both teenagers and parents. Don't worry, bacause all this is natural. You see, your parents have grown up at a different time and they have different experiences. So, they think some things are strange, but you find the same things ordinary. For example, the music you like may sound like noise to them. Your parents love you, so they feel they must protect you from whatever they find strange. On the other hand, you don't want to be different from other teenagers, so you feel that your parents restrict you.
I think you should talk about this problem with your parents. Try to explain to them what you want and make them know they can believe you. Sooner or later. they'll find you are a responsible (有责任心的) person and they will give you more freedom (自由).Why has Angel written to Dr Jackson?
A.Because her parents make her happy. |
B.Because her parents can't understand her. |
C.Because her friends don't like her parents. |
D.Because her parents don't think she is good at school. |
Angel has than her friends.
A.more fun | B.less freedom |
C.more freedom | D.less clothes |
What advice does Dr Jackson give to Angel?
A.Be different from the other teenagers. |
B.Don't tell her parents what she wants to do. |
C.Take no notice of her parents and do whatever she likes. |
D.Discuss her problem with her parents. |
What does the word "restrict" in the passage mean in Chinese?
A.限制 | B.保护 |
C.放纵 | D.抛弃 |

Bags of Love
Last year, I worked in a middle school near my mother’s house, and I stayed with her for a month. During that time, I helped her do some housework and buy some food.
After the first week, I noticed that the food was eaten up very quickly. Then I began keeping an eye on my mum. To my surprise, I found that she would put some of the food into a paper bag and go out with it at about nine every morning. And finally, I decided to follow her. I saw her taking the food to the street children. She would also spend a lot of time talking and playing with them.
One day, I talked to a neighbour and found out that my mum was well-known in the area. The children were very friendly with her and even thought of her as their own mother. Then it hit me – why wouldn’t she want to tell me about it? Was she worried that I would stop buying food if I found out?
When my mum got home, I gave her a big hug (拥抱).I told her she didn’t need to keep it a secret from me. And she told me something about the children. Some of them lived with an old lady in a small house. Others slept on the street. For years, she was helping the poor street children by giving them food. After she told me everything, I was so moved by how selfless (无私的) she was. She helped others in need. As her son, I was so proud of my mum.
I continued to buy food for my mum after that. But I always added one more bag for her other children. After the first week, the writer noticed that _____.

An important part of learning something is making sure you plan your time and use it well. If you want to remember
things well, you need to review information you’ve learned. Try to follow the advice:
DO |
DON’T |
●Make a study timetable at least three weeks before your exams and follow time to relax and have fun. ●Review little and often. ●While you’re studying, have short regular breaks. A short break every 45 minutes is good idea. Stand up and walk around— you will feel more awake. ●Try making a weekly plan showing what you do every day(school, travel, meals, etc). You might see where you’re wasting time that you could use to study or read. |
●Study for hours every night a week before your exam! Studying for hours the night before will make you tired and your brain won’t work well. ●Study for a long period of time without a break. You probably won’t remember information very well if you do this ●Worry too much. If you feel nervous, you won’t learn as well as if you’re relaxed. |
When learning something, you’d better make a plan first.
Make sure to review as much as possible every time.
You’ll feel more awake after a 45-minute break while studying.
If you worry too much, you can’t learn well.
You should stay up late the night before exams.

There are many colors in nature. But do you think that a color has weight? I think you'll say 6/no". But I'm afraid you are wrong. If you don't believe it, you may do a small experiment(实验).
First, put two objects with the same weight into two boxes. Then cover the boxes.
Third, wrap(包裹) one box with a red piece of paper, the other one with a white piece of paper. OK. Now hold the boxes with your hand one by one. It is certain that you will think the red one is a little heavier.
Why do you think so? A scientist found that different colors have different weights in man's mind. That is to say, every color has its own weight in our mind.
The scientist told us that colors also have smell. Can you smell the color? Of course not. Then why did the scientist say S07 That is because every color stands for (代表) a kind of light with a certain wavelength,(波长). It reaches our brain through sense organs According to this discovery, scientists say that people accept the colors they like, and refuse the colors they hate. So your body and mind will be healthy by using the colors you like. Or you'll be nervous or even get ill. For example (例如) , you like blue and hate red. If you stay in a room with red windows, wallpaper and furniture(家具) for two hours, you'll feel you have been there for four hours. But if the room is blue, you'll feel you have been there for only an hour. And, if a person walks out of a blue room and into a red room, his temperature will rise.
That means our body temperature will change with different colors. From the experiment, we know that .
A.the two boxes have the same weight |
B.colors can change the weight of an object |
C.the red paper is heavier than the white paper |
D.colors have different weights in people's mind |
From the fourth paragraph, we can infer(推断)____.
A.the smell of colors is changeable(可变的) |
B.people can sense the light from colors |
C.people can smell the colors through the nose |
D.all the colors have the same smell for the blind |
Which of the following is true?____.
A.White color is heavier than red color |
B.People may get ill if they refuse the colors they don't like |
C.People can stay longer in red rooms than in blue rooms |
D.People's body temperature will change with different colors |
We can infer from the last paragraph that____.
A.red color is bad for our health |
B.people may get nervous in a red room |
C.blue color can raise(提升)our body temperature |
D.colors can influence our mood(情绪)and health |
The passage is probably____.
A.a short novel | B.a news report |
C.a science report | D.an advertisement |
