Who help you most in your everyday life, families, charities, or friends? Don’t forget about your neighbours! Neighbours help you more than anyone else in your daily life. So it is important to have good neighbours.
What does it take to be a good neighbour? Here is some advice:
Good fences(栅栏) make good neighbours. One of the most important things in being a good neighbour is to respect a person’s privacy(隐私). If you go rushing over as soon as new neighbours move in, they may think you are going to come over at all hours of the day, not respecting their privacy.
It is always a good idea to be friendly to everyone in the neighbourhood. This can not only put you on good terms(关系和睦) with them, but will also be a kind of protection for your family and home. If you wave as they drive by or offer a friendly hello while they are out to work, they will think you respect them. If you are friendly to them, they are much more likely to watch out for anything wrong going on around your home while you are out and let you know if anything happens.
Another way of being a good neighbour is to be helpful in their hour of need. If you see that they are in need of a helping hand, it is good to offer your help. They will do the same if you are in trouble.
In a word, if you respect a person’s privacy, treat them kindly and be helpful when you see they are in need, you will be a great neighbour and anyone would be happy to have you next door!
. Can you r neighbour help you than anyone else in your daily life?
. Why is it always a good idea to be friendly to everyone in the neighbourhood?
. When is it good to offer your help?
. How can you be a good neighbour?
. What does the writer mainly tell us in the passage?

Vanilla is my best friend. She is a lovely girl with two big, beautiful eyes. But she always hides them behind a pair of glasses.
One day, though, I nearly ended our friendship. I remember that day clearly. We were sitting in the classroom. The teacher was giving us our results of a Chinese test. I had done badly. I felt so sad that I wouldn’t talk to anyone. At lunchtime, I even stayed in the classroom alone. Suddenly, I heard a voice. It was Vanilla. “You look very unhappy,” she said. “What’s wrong?” I looked up at her, but said nothing. I knew Vanilla had got a good mark in the test. I thought she was making fun of me. I kept quiet, but Vanilla didn’t go away. She kept asking me questions, “Is it because of the exam? Do you want me to show you the right answers?” I looked away from her. When I looked up again, Vanilla had gone. And so had my exam paper! I looked everywhere for my paper, but couldn’t find it.
In the afternoon, Vanilla came up to my desk and gave me my exam paper back. I looked at it and got a big surprise. Vanilla had written the right answers next to every one of my mistakes. My face went red. Vanilla had been trying to help me all along. How nice she was! I wanted to hug (拥抱) her, but all I did was to hold her hands and say, “Thank you.” That afternoon, Vanilla and I went home on foot together. I felt so happy that we were still best friends.
