There is nothing wrong with being shy. In fact,       happy, successful people are shy. You can try to say goodbye to your shyness. Here’s how to do so.
1. Start Small. At home, practice       and saying hi while looking at yourself in the mirror. Then try this at school with kids you know well. Once that becomes a habit, try doing the same with kids you don’t know as well.
2.        Are Key. Once you         smiling and saying hi, it’s time to start a conversation. All you really have to do is to ask a question or two about a person’s       : What’s your favorite movie? Do you like playing tennis? Just be careful not to ask questions that are too personal __  might be hurtful.
3. Choose Face-to-face Time. Many shy girls say it’s easier for them to talk to people     . In a recent survey, nearly two out of every 10 shy girls said being online has made them even shyer in real life. So       your cell phone, step away from the computer, and put in some face-to-face time with the people in your life.
4. Star in Your Own Life. Looking people in the eye, saying hi with a smile, and starting conversations will probably feel strange at first, but every time you practice your new skills, it will become a little        .
you keep working at it, you will become more comfortable talking to other people.

This month, we had the honor of interviewing and six local change﹣makers aged from 11 to 17. These weren't stopped by their age or size or lack of resources, they saw a(1) in the world around them and to step help where they could. They support female soldiers raise money through their efforts, teach other kids about life lessons, and use their free time to (2) the old trees we love so dearly in the community. Each of them had adults in their lives encouraging and supporting their work.

We were also honored to interview a famous writer for his new book, Start Now! You can Be a Change﹣maker. The book explains some of the world's big problems﹣hunger, health and animals in danger﹣in a way that young children can understand. The book shows them, through other kids' stories, how they can make a (3) , too. In our interview with the writer,he shares that each time his children take a small action, such as recycling,he talks with them.He uses the moment to discuss how small changes can achieve a great effect. It's a step any of us can take to help children realize how(4) they are.

At this time of year,we often hear lots of questions from parents. The most one is,"What volunteer chances are there for young children under 16?"The kids in the interview and in the book show us that parents don't have to find an organized event for their kids to take part in.They can create their own chances. As parents, teachers, aunts, uncles, and friends,it's our job to (5) for what speaks to a child's heart, help the man to take that first step, and watch what their little hands can do.

Start now,and you can raise a change﹣maker.

Teaching material discussion group 15

Hi! I 'm doing a survey on teaching materials in school. What kind of textbooks do you use? Do you think the use of photocopied(复印的) netbooks and newspaper articles in the classroom can be accepted? Please give your (1)

The use of such materials is certainly not (2) for writers. Textbooks are like other creative works. Many people have to put their efforts in the writing of a book. The efforts of the writers and publishers will be totally wasted if everyone photocopies their textbooks. I can't imagine that!

I don' t think it right to use photocopied materials even in the classroom because it's against the law. Teachers should set a good example for their students by (3) the law.

Copied books are as good as copyrighted(正版的)ones, but they don't (4) much, usually less than half the price. In addition, it is so (5) to use copied materials. When we want to share something good we just have it photocopied. I think photocopying is OK because publishers are still making a lot of money anyway.

Most of the time, teachers make sure their students do not use photocopied materials. But I know some teachers do use photocopied newspaper articles sometimes, as their students are eager to learn more to widen their views. As you know, teachers always put the (6) of students above anying else. After all, you can't expect all the students to buy newspapers.

Wow! Thank you for sharing so many ideas!
