Dear Jenny.
How is it going? Are you busy with your study these days?
I've been back at school nearly four weeks. I am very glad to tell you that great have taken place in our school this term. First of all, we are aked to "clean our plates" when having our meals and say to waste. Some of us used to order more than what we could eat. That was a big waste of food and money. Now we need to the food we order.
We should also stop wasting in some other ways. For example, we should turn off the lights when we the classroom. And our school has opened up some for us to learn how to grow vegetables. Each class is given a small garden and our class has to grow some tomatoes and beans in our spare time. I think it'll be very interesting. Maybe I'II be able to you some beans we've grown next time.
What's more, we have only two classes in the afternoon we have more time for after-school activities. I am one of the traffic safety volunteers in our school. After school, we take turns asking people in the streets near our school to the traffic rules.
I think our school life is now improving! Please write back soon and tell me more about your school.
Yours truly,
Wang Wei

Li Ping,a Junior One student at High School was quite busy over the last winter vacation, not just with homework .Li,together with ten other classmates made a group to call on people to join the Clean Your Plate Campaign(光盘行动).
The students went to many restaurants and told the people the importance of food. “Excuse me,do you know that 20 million people around the world still haven’t got enough to ? Could you please notfood ?”They would say this kind of thing hundreds of times every day.
,the activity has got the support of many people. In a restaurant in Chengguan District, the owner gives the guests who have eaten all the food they ordered a ticket.People can enjoy a meal when they have ten tickets . More than 50 restaurants in Lanzhou have begun to offer dishes and encourage their guests to take leftovers(剩菜)home.
Wasting food is a serious problem around the,not only in China. It's said that 1.3 billion tons of food ends up as waste last year. This is asas one third of all the food in the world. The UN Environment Program and the Food and Agriculture Organization held a“ Think ,Eat,Save”program in January,2013 to help reduce food waste.

My life is always filled with sadness and little joy. However, no matter what happens, I can always face it bravely.
Last year, I couldn’t believe thethat I was allowed to enter the only key high school in my hometown. Then I rushed to my home and told my parents. But my father didn’t seem asas I was. He just kept smoking without saying a word and my mother put her head down and couldn’t help .
I knew very well what my family was . My mum had been ill in bed for2 years. We lived a hard life and I couldn’t continue my schooling. I felt so upset but I could sayto my parents. I decided to help my father with his workmy family.
To my surprise, things completely changedthe beginning of the new term. My head teacher came to my family with some money, which had beenby my schoolmates. He encouraged me, “Always have a dream.” With tears in my eyes, I stepped into the key high school.
I have been studying hard since I entered the high school. Whenever I meet difficulties, I alwaysmy teacher and schoolmates. I have a college dream and I must work hard for it, no matterhard the life is. Just as a great man says, “When one door shuts, another opens in life.”A. newsB. story C. idea

Some people say they have an answer to the problems of car crowding and pollution. In many cities, hundreds of people ride bikes to work every day. In New York City, some bike riders have even a group: Bike for a Better City. They say if people rode bikes to work, there would be fewer cars and less dirty air.
For several years this group has tried to help bike riders. They want to have special roads for bikes only because when bike riders must use the same roads cars, there may be accidents. Some people for a better city feel if there were bike roads, more people would use bikes.
But bike roads have been ready yet. Not everyone thinks it is a good .Drivers don't like it, and some shop owners don't . And most people living _ far from the city to have to travel by bike. Still, has been done about it. On Saturdays and Sundays, the largest open park in New York is to cars, and the roads may be used by bikes only, but the group still says this is not enough and goes on fighting bike roads.
