About a week ago, when I was playing basketball at our city park, I noticed a small group of boys picking on作弄a smaller boy. They were calling his names and even pushed him to the ground and kicked something in his face. When I saw that, I walked over to the group.
I stepped them and the smaller boy, and asked them politely what this boy had done. One of the boys replied, “He’s weird.” Then I asked one of the boys if he thought his friend was weird, and the was “No.” So, I asked another boy what the word “weird” , and he said, “Different.” That was my cue暗示. I told them that everyone was , and that they all looked just as different to the other boy as he did to them. They all stood for a moment, and then the most amazing thing happened. One of the boys helped the small boy off the ground and then said sorry to him. He even him to play with them.
I thanked the boy for being so brave. As I looked around, I realized that there were many other people at the park no one else had stopped to help this boy. I felt happy that the boy was to stand up against his friends to help someone in need, but I felt sad that else had even taken a second look.
I hope that I’ve helped them realize that they could make a with a little effort and maybe next time they will be the ones who choose to help.

What’s your idea about success? Some people say that beginners have all the luck, while others believe that success 1 only with practice. In fact, I feel both of these statements (陈述) are not true all the time. Each is true in some ways 2 not in others.
For example, I went to a drawing competition many years ago and 3 surprisingly. As a prize, I got a film ticket to see “Titanic”. I was really 4 because it was the first time I had taken part in any competition, Thinking that I might be lucky again, I 5 joining in other art competitions, But the result was that I 6 won again. I accepted the fact that the other people had a7 artistic ability than I did. Art was not something I was especially interested in and I had never practiced the different art skills. So, the 8 I produced were not of a very high standard(水平).
These experiences taught me a lot. Though I might have been lucky 9 , I also need to put in hard work. As we know, 10 makes perfect. So I believe success builds on less luck and chance.

My parents had some strange rules when my sister and I were growing up. For example, they never 1 us soda or juice. Our choice was water or iced tea 2 no sugar. My mom’s 3 for it was that she didn’t like kids who only drank sweet drinks, or worse, kids who did not like 4 ! She wanted to teach us to like water or 5 unsweetened drinks that did not come in a bottle. We, on the other hand, wanted to 6 a coke when we ate out. Learning to Accept
I learned how to accept life from my father. 1 , he did not teach me to learn to accept when he was strong and healthy, but when he was 2 and ill.
My father was 3 a strong man who loved being active, but a terrible illness 4 all that away. Now he can 5 walk, and he must sit quietly in a chair6 . Even talking is 7 . One night, I went to visit him with my sisters. We started 8 about life, and I told them about one of my 9 . I said that we must very often give things up as we grow —our youth, our beauty, our friends -- but it always seems that after we give something up, we get 10 in its place. Then suddenly my father spoke up. He said, “But Peter, I gave up 11 ! What did I get?” I thought and thought, but I could not think of anything to say. 12 , he answered his own question: “I 13 the love of my family.” I looked at my sisters and saw tears in their eyes, 14 hope and thankfulness, I was also 15 by his words.
