A TV series(电视剧) in England,Away from it all,has surprised everyone by becoming a success with young people across the country. Its success is surprising because the series is about the relaxing lifestyles of people who live in the country. There is none of the action that we usually see on TV today. There are also no stressful moments, busy offices or crowded cities. Away from it all is set in the peaceful English countryside and tells simple stories about people’s kindness.
The director(导演) of the TV series says that its success is a sign of teenagers suffering from(遭受) stress. They say that watching Away from it all helps teenagers forget about the pressures of exams and homework, and the troubles that fill the world today. They also say that it’s a good sign of today’s young people turning to happier TV series as it shows they want a happier and healthier world.
Although the series’ success might have a good side, many teachers and parents are worried, however. They say that some of their students and children spend more time before TV and are using Away from it all as an excuse for not finishing homework. Some children have even refused to learn for exams because they say that they can only get personal happiness by avoiding stressful situations.
And what do the experts say? Paula Ray, a doctor of education, says that TV can influence children’s lifestyles. But she says that if a child reacts(反应) strongly, it’s likely that there are other reasons for his change in behaviour(行为). She says that there is nothing wrong with watching Away from it all but suggests that parents should let their children know TV is not the same as real life.

This morning, we had a school trip to the Dashan Collection House, a building of two floors. It is open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. We took the school bus and arrived at 9:00. When we entered the collection house, our eyes were caught by a collection of old photos of the town on the walls of the front hall. Those photos told us something about the history of the town. And then in the Art Room, we saw many pictures of the countryside. Some famous local artists drew them. The colors of the flowers and the trees were rich and bright. All at once, I lost myself in the beauty of nature.
Then we went upstairs(楼上). On the left, there were over one hundred different clocks. The oldest clock was already more than two hundred years old. To my surprise, the clocks all worked well and they could tell the right time. It was then ten o’clock, and some clocks made different beautiful sounds. It seemed to be a concert. How amazing!
On the right there was also a stone(石头)collection. The stones were from all over the country. They were in different sizes, colors and shapes. Some looked like different kinds of animals. I really liked one stone that looked like a little monkey. It looked very nice.
The collections there were wonderful. So we stayed there until 11:30 in the morning. I had a great time and really liked the school trip.
Answer the following questions within 6 words.
Where did the writer and his classmates go for the school trip?

What did they see in the Art Room?

How many kinds of collections are there in the passage?

Vanilla is my best friend. She is a lovely girl with two big, beautiful eyes. But she always hides them behind a pair of glasses.
One day, though, I nearly ended our friendship. I remember that day clearly. We were sitting in the classroom. The teacher was giving us our results of a Chinese test. I had done badly. I felt so sad that I wouldn’t talk to anyone. At lunchtime, I even stayed in the classroom alone. Suddenly, I heard a voice. It was Vanilla. “You look very unhappy,” she said. “What’s wrong?” I looked up at her, but said nothing. I knew Vanilla had got a good mark in the test. I thought she was making fun of me. I kept quiet, but Vanilla didn’t go away. She kept asking me questions, “Is it because of the exam? Do you want me to show you the right answers?” I looked away from her. When I looked up again, Vanilla had gone. And so had my exam paper! I looked everywhere for my paper, but couldn’t find it.
In the afternoon, Vanilla came up to my desk and gave me my exam paper back. I looked at it and got a big surprise. Vanilla had written the right answers next to every one of my mistakes. My face went red. Vanilla had been trying to help me all along. How nice she was!
