Jessie felt her life so boring one summer day. She was tired of watching TV, she read all her books, and her friends were on vacation. She wanted something different to do. Suddenly, she saw the lawn mower(割草机)sitting in the yard.
“Mom," she shouted, ‘‘I think I will mow the lawn." Her mom ran into the yard and said,“Oh no, you don't. You're too young to mow the lawn."
“I'm fourteen years old and know how to do it," Jessie said. "Besides, it would help Dad out, and he won't have to worry about it over the weekend."
Mom thought for a while and then decided to let Jessie give it a try. After all, she was home and would keep an eye on her. Jessie already knew how to start the lawn mower from watching her dad. Jessie checked the gas(汽油)to make sure it was full, and put on her gardening gloves to protect her hands. Mom watched from the kitchen window. Jessie really does know how to mow the lawn. She was very careful around the flowers and trees. When she finished, she felt so good, but she was so hot. Mom brought her some ice tea and said, "You really did a great job. Dad will be very surprised."
Later that day, Dad came home and said to Jessie's mom, "You didn't have to mow the lawn. I was going to do it on Saturday. It looks great. Thanks."
"I didn't mow it. Jessie did."
"Wow, our little girl is growing up!" Dad told Jessie what a great job she had done.
"It was fun, and I will do it again next week," said Jessie.
The neighbor next door came by and asked Jessie if she wanted to mow his lawn and make some money. "Sure!" said Jessie. Jessie began mowing his lawn. Two other neighbors asked so, then another three. With more and more cars on the road, the traffic jam(交通堵塞) will happen. How do we see it and how can we solve the problem?
We know that the traffic jam happens in many places, especially in big cities. What are reasons for the problem? On one hand, some people think that they should have a car when they have enough money, and then it’s easy to go out and they can feel comfortable. On the other hand, a growing number of people hope to use their cars to show off(炫耀). What’s more, years of research has shown that one of other reasons for the traffic jam is the driving habit. For example, many young people enjoy driving very fast, so they can feel excited. At last, most of them hardly care about the speed(速度) rules.
Many governments(政府) are working at how to make the traffic better. In my opinion, firstly, the government should educate(教育) those people who have cars or plan to buy cars. The governments must make them know that the traffic jam is very serious , and set up a much more perfect traffic system(体系) to solve the traffic pressure. Why is the traffic jam getting more and more serious?
A.Because there are not enough ways of transportation. |
B.Because there are fewer speed rules. |
C.Because there are more and more cars on the roads. |

Life is full of happiness and bitters(痛苦). Do you choose to live a happy life or a bitter one?
In my opinion, happiness is for everyone. You don’t need to care about those who have beautiful houses with large gardens and swimming pools or those who have nice cars and lots of money and so on. Why? Because those who have big house may often feel lonely and those who have cars may want to walk on the country roads at their free time.
In fact, happiness is always around you if you put your heart into it. When you are in trouble at school, your friends will help you; when you study hard at your lessons, your parents are always taking good care of your life and your health; when you get success, your friends will say congratulations to you; when you do something good to others, you will feel happy, too. All these are your happiness. If you notice them, you can see that happiness is always around you.
Happiness is not the same as money. It is a feeling of your heart. When you are poor, you can also say you are very happy, because you have something else that can’t be bought with money. When you meet with difficulties, you can say loudly you are very happy, because you have bad luck. As the saying goes, life is like a revolving (旋转) door. When it closes, it also opens. If you take every chance you get, you can be a happy and lucky person.Happiness is for ____________.
A.those who have large and beautiful houses |
B.those who have cars |
C.those who have lots of money |
D.all people |
When you do something wrong, .
A.people around you will help you |
B.you will have no chance to challenge yourself |
C.your classmates will laugh at you |
D.you will be happy |

A.When you get success, your friends will be very proud of you. |
B.You can get help from others when you make mistakes. |
C.You can still be a happy person even if you have little money. |
D.All of the above.. |
We say “Happiness is not the same as money.” because .
A.money always brings happiness |

C.everything can be bought with money |
D.only rich doesn’t always bring happiness |

Once upon a time there was a baby eagle. He lived in the nest on a cliff (悬崖), overlooking a beautiful valley with waterfalls and streams, trees and lots of little animals. The nest was the whole world to him. It was warm and comfortable, had a great view. And even better, he had all the food and love and attention that a great mother eagle could provide. The baby eagle grew strong and he felt good all the time.
But one day, the mother came back home and said,“Eat this, and it’s your last meal,” she said. The baby cried, but he ate and thought about what had happened. Just then, surprisingly, the mother pushed him out of the nest. He fell, head first, faster ad faster. He screamed. “I’m dying!” he cried. He looked up at his mother, “How could you do this to me?” He looked down. The ground rushed closer, faster and faster. “This is unfair!” he screamed.
Something strange happened. The air caught behind his wings and they snapped away from his body, with a feeling unlike anything he had ever experienced. He looked down and saw the sky. He wasn’t moving towards the ground any more, and his eyes were pointed up at the sun.
“Huh?” he said,“ What is going on here?”
“You’re flying,” his mother said.
“This is fun!” laughed the baby eagle, as he soared (翱翔) and dived.
