I am a person who can get angry easily. But since I read an article 1 by my English teacher, things have changed a lot. I’m2 at a boarding (寄宿的) school. So I3 learn not only how to study well, but also how to4 with others. Some of us are outgoing 5 others are quiet. It is 6 that people have problems and arguments. So how can we be tolerant(宽容的,容忍的)? Smiling 7 others is the easiest way. Another way is 8 if your ideas are reasonable (有道理的) and right 9 having an argument. If others’ ideas are really not good, keep an open mind. Try10 them. 11 a friend is much better than having an enemy after all. Also 12 point out other’s mistakes in public. This will make people lose 13 and get angry. If you really want to help, send a letter instead. On the other hand, if 14 points out your disadvantages, don’t be angry. Just think this is a person who really __15___to help you and become friends. Remember: Tolerance makes life easier.

With a hat by his feet, a blind boy sat on the steps of a building. He held up a sign which said, “I’m blind, please help.”
Only a few people put 1in the hat. A man was walking by. He 2some coins into the hat. He then turned the sign 3, wrote some words, put the sign back and left.
Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people 4 to give money to the blind boy. That afternoon the man came to see 5things were. The boy recognized his footsteps (认出他的脚步声)and asked, “Were you the one who 6my sign this morning? What did you write?”
The man said, “I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a 7way.” What he had written was, “Today is a beautiful day, 8 I cannot see it.”

There are at least two lessons we can learn 14this story. First, be thankful for what you have. Someone else has less. Help them if you can. 15, be creative. Think differently. There is always a better way!
A thousand years ago Hong Kong was covered by a thick forest. As more and more people came to 1 in Hong Kong, these trees were cut down and burnt. Now there is 2 forest left, though there are still some small areas covered with trees. We call these woods.
Elephants, tigers and many 3 animals were living in the thick forest. When people came to live in Hong Kong, the 4 began to die out. Early farmers grew rice and 5 pigs and chickens in the valleys. They cut down the trees and burnt them. They needed 6 to keep themselves warm in winter, to cook their food and to keep away the dangerous animals. Elephants quickly disappeared because there was not enough food for them. So did 7 of the wolves and tigers. Monkeys and many other animals soon 8 in the same way.
You might think that there are no longer any animals in Hong Kong 9 in the zoos. But there are still about 36 different animals 10 there. One of the most interesting of Hong Kong's animals is the barking deer. These are beautiful little animals 11 a rich brown coat and a white patch (补丁) under the tail. They look like deer but they are much smaller. They are less than two feet(英尺) 12 . They make a noise rather like a dog 13 . In Hong Kong the barking deer has only a real enemy-- 14 . People hunt these little animals though it is illegal (违法的). There are now not many barking deer left. So it is important 15 people to protect wild animals.
