Field trips are popular with my students and as a teacher, I often make it a rule that when we are on a field trip, there will be no talking as we enter a building. This rule to entering any place, whether it is a cinema, a church, a theatre, or any other place.
Once, in New York City, I took my class to see a(n) near Times Square. When we arrived at the theatre, there were about twenty other classes outside waiting to get in. The students from the other schools were not and there was pandemonium(乌烟瘴气). I told my students to stay in a line and keep . I told them that we would not carry ourselves like those other . Soon we started to file into the theatre, and it was very disorganized. There was a lady trying to the groups and get them to their seats, students were everywhere and really knew where to go. My class, observing our rule, walked in in two single-file lines. We stood near the door behind everyone else, and we . All of a sudden, the lady who was noticed us and she walked our direction. She asked the students the teacher was for our group, and I raised my . She asked, “Very, very nice to meet you. Come this way.” We were 51 into the theatre first, and we were given front-row seats.
Sometimes for others may not seem like it is going to have an effect, especially when you no one around who is taking manners into . However, that is usually the time when such actions will be most appreciated and recognized.

It was so cold that I couldn’t feel my legs. There was going to be a racing contest that night so I was 36 my horse, Skippy, up. I was simply running laps(跑道的圈) around the ring. The 37 cold air had been blowing past me, freezing my limbs, but every second I 38 it. You could hear the faint 39 of the people up at the clubhouse eating their dinner. My parents were also there, not knowing that my little sister had slowly wandered her way down to the ring. It was 40 because there was no moon or stars. Nobody else was in the ring at the time. I was really enjoying the 41 and I was able to 42 what Skippy was doing. As I took my last lap it 43 . Everything rapidly slowed down as I saw my little sister step44 the ring. We have known for a long time that flowers of different plants open and close at different times of day. This is so 1 that there seems to be no need to ask the reason for it. Yet no one 2 understands why flowers open and close like this at particular times. The process is not as 3 as we might think, as recent experiments have shown. In one study, flowers were kept in constant 4 . We might expect that the flowers, without any information about the time of day, did not open as they 5 do. As a matter of fact, they 6 to open at their usual time. This suggests that they have some mysterious(神秘的) way of knowing the 7 . Their sense of time does not 8 information from the outside world; it is, so to speak, inside them, a kind of “inner clock”.
This 9 may not seem to be very important. However, it was later found that not just plants but also 10 , including man, have this “inner clock” which 11 the working of their bodies and influences their activities. Men, then, are also influenced by this mysterious 12 . Whether we wish it or not, it affects such things in our life as our need for sleep, our need for food.
In the past, this did not really 13 because people lived in natural condition. In the 14 world, things are different; now there are spacemen, airplane pilots and, in ordinary life, a lot of people who have to work at night. It would be very 15 , then, to know more about the “inner clock”. Such things as flowers might help us understand more about ourselves.
