In 2012, I had just recovered from a serious illness when I received an invitation to a writer’s conference in Orlando, Florida. My family persuaded me that a(n)        might be just what the doctor ordered, so off I         .
Arriving in the Sunshine State was rather tiring, but I             to catch a taxi to my           and settle in. Next morning, I took another       to the shopping center to buy a few souvenirs.          I went to a cafe to have lunch, but all the tables were         . Then I heard a friendly voice saying, “You can          my table.”
I gratefully sat down with the          lady and we had a happy lunch together. As the          drew to a close, she asked how long I would be in Orlando. I had already told her that I hadn’t          a car, and hadn’t realized how         taking taxis would be. After a while she said, “My dear, don’t use any more taxi. I’m retired and it would be my pleasure to         you wherever you wish.” I told her that I couldn’t put her to that         . but she brushed aside my protests(反对). She asked me where I was               and next morning she was waiting at my apartment at the              time to take me to Disney World. She spent some time with me before leaving me to          alone. At the end of the day, she         to take me back to my accommodation. I offered her money,          she refused to take any.
I’ll never forget that wonderful lady who, through her          , filled my brief holiday in Florida with wonderful memories.

On the first day of your Senior High you must meet many new classmates. Do you want to make friends with them? Do you know how to make friends with them? The following article will tell you how to do it.
Making friends is a skill. Like most skills, it improves practice. If you want to meet people and make friends you must be to take action. You must first go to places where there are people. You won’t make friends at home alone. Join a club or group, for talking with those who the same experience as you is easier, and them in some activities.
Many people are when talking to strangers. After all, meeting strangers means facing , and it’s human nature to a bit uncomfortable about the unknown.
Most of our fears about dealing with strange people from doubts about ourselves. We other people are judging us, thinking us too tall or too short, too this or too that. , don’t forget that they must be feeling the same way. Try to accept yourself you are, and try to put the other person at ease. You’ll feel more comfortable.
Try to act self-confidently you don’t feel that way you enter a room full of strangers, such as a new classroom, walk straight, look at other people and smile. If you see someone you’d like to , say something. Don’t wait for the other people to a conversation.
Just meeting someone doesn’t mean that you will make friends with that person. Friendship is on mutual(相互的)liking and “give and take”. It takes time and effort to develop. And there are things that keep a new friendship from growing.

When I was about 6 years old I lived in Kenya. There was a lot of and there were always street children on the roads asking for money. There was such a big divide between those children and me and I grew up very aware of being so .
We had a wonderful and very kind driver, John, who had been working with my for decades. He used to take us to and from school. One day while we were stopped in traffic a young street child, probably no more than 10 years old, with a friendly greeting, “Hi, John!”
He the car and shook John’s hand,. John then gave him a little bit of money and waved him off with a smile before we carried on our way to school.
I had watched the whole incident completely . John had a large family himself and had to work very hard to make ends .I knew that he didn’t have any spare money. So, of course, at that age I couldn’t understand why he would be giving money to the child.
“Who was that?” I asked. “My friend,” he replied. “I see him every morning on my way to work and I give him a little bit of money.” Unable to comprehend, I asked, “Why do you have to give him money every morning?” John replied, “So he can use it to buy some food.”
It was probably at that that I understood what kindness really was. A person who was in a difficult situation himself still found some money to for a child who needed it. Even at the age of 6 that had such a great impact on me. I didn’t have any money, but I wanted to too. So when my grandfather gave us a chocolate bar after dinner every Friday, I would mine up so I could give it to John to give to his friend.
