Groundhog Day(土拨鼠节) is the day when people use the groundhog to predict the weather for the next six weeks. It is said that if the sun is shining when the groundhog comes out of his burrow(洞穴), then six more weeks of winter will follow. However, if it is cloudy, then spring will come early.
It is celebrated on February 2nd
This is a tradition especially in the United States. It is mostly just for fun.
There are a number of celebrations in the United States. The largest celebration takes place in Punxsu tawney, Pennsylvania where the famous groundhog Punxsutawney Phil has predicted the weather each year since 1886. Over 10, 000 people go to see Punxsutawney Phil come out of this burrow at around 9:00 am,
At first, people celebrated February 2nd as Candlemas Day (圣烛节). On this day, if the sun came out, then there would be six more weeks of cold weather. Later, people began to use the groundhog to make this prediction. On February 2nd, 1886. The Punxsutawney Spirit, a local newspaper, declared (宣布) February 2nd to be Groundhog Day and named a local groundhog Punxsutawney Phil. Since then the tradition has spread across the United States.

Dear Peter,
How about you study? It’s Sunday today I’m writing a letter to you. I’m going to tell you .I’m going to tell you about things in Beijing.
Beijing is different from London. In our country, we drive on the left side of the road, but here people drive on the right side. Most people go to work by bus or by bike. The rush hours(高峰时间) are from seven to nine in the morning and five to seven in the afternoon. People in China work around eight hours a day, five days a week. They usually begin to work at eight in the morning, and rest on Saturday and Sunday.
I have Chinese classes every morning from Monday to Friday. The students in our class are from many countries. We’re all working hard and friendly. The Chinese students are ready to help us with our Chinese .We also help them a lot with their English. We’re getting along very well(相处的融洽)
That’s all for today. Please write tome soon.
Yours,
